All the Season Four crews trickled back into Cali this week to reconnect with each other and rehearse a special number for ABDC's live finale. The excitement revved up immediately after finding out that they'd be split into three different groups for a Judges Choice performance. Check out the lineup:
Shane Sparks' group - Beat Ya Feet Kings, Massive Monkees, Southern Movement
"I Do (Represent)" Lil Jon ft. Swizz Beatz & Snoop Dogg
Lil Mama's group - Artistry In Motion, Vogue Evolution, We Are Heroes
"Girls On The Dance Floor" Far East Movement
JC Chasez's group - AfroBorike, Fr3sh, Rhythm City
"Fire Burning" Sean Kingston
Our resident French hottie, Maryss From Paris, got a moment to ask Shane Sparks what all of you have been yappin' about this past week: did Rhythm City deserve to go? Always the straight shooter, Shane laid it all out there in good ol' plain hip-hop jargon. Listen in below...
Phresh off the plane from Philadelphia this week was Phresh Select's Smart Mark, who did us a solid by holding it down as our latest ABDC guest blogger. Listen to what he was able to squeeze out of the judges pre-taping:
Last night's taping of Episode 6 was SUPER exciting! No joke, thecrews' collective "Smooth Criminal" opening just might've been the best group dance number in ABDC history. At least, in my humble opinion. And even after the smoke (hint, hint) cleared, the high-octane tone of their performance carried on throughout the night. Here are some highlights -- and don't forget, air time is 7pm this Sunday, right before the VMA pre-show kicks off!
- Shane Sparks tells one crew they "outdid" the original VMA performance!
- A wild animal slithers onto the stage!
- One crew pays tribute to Vogue Evolution during their routine!
- Shane and JC verbally spar over entertaining the audience versus representing the art of the dance battle!
- An ABDC first: Double female backflip! (Guess that rules out Massive Monkees, huh?)
Last night's Dance Craze Challenge kept all the crews on their toes - well, actually the mini-tramp kept all the crews in the air! You're in for a real treat this Sunday night when you see how creative all the crews got with their challenge(s), but for now, here are a few of this week's show-stoppin' moments:
- Massive Monkees take full advantage of a photo op with host Mario Lopez!
- The entire audience (including JC Chasez) get to be featured dancers!
- Lil Mama & Leiomy officially clear the air - Pheww!!
- Shane Sparks compliments one crew for not "watering down" their performance.
- A fire extinguisher goes off mid-routine! (See what we did there?)
So what else happens? Guess you'll have to watch this week's show to find out! Tune in this Sunday at 9pm to catch the rest of the high-flying ABDC action!
Shane Sparkschallenged all the ABDCrews to go harder this week, and they responded with a veritable Bollywood bonanza! And while a couple of the crews fell short (*cough* Beat Ya Feet Kings), the rest stepped it up big-time, including We Are Heroes, who fought hard to claw their way out of the bottom two. But did they do enough to stay in the game? Pull up a seat at the panel and weigh in on all of this week's routines!
To get in the game, just re-watch the performances below, then click the "Share" button (on the player timeline) to pause the action -- and send your comment out to all your Facebook/Twitter friends. (To read what everyone else has been sayin', just roll over the squares at the bottom of the player.) Clock's ticking, so you'd better busta move!
During last night's ABDC, it was clear that the judges' disparaging remarks from last week left a bad taste in the crews' mouths. The great part is, the dancers boldly answered back, using their moves -- and, in one case, their shirts! -- to prove they're here to win. And all that hard work paid off. After seeing all that attitude and swag on stage, Shane Sparks couldn't help but give props to the same crews he slammed one week earlier!
But now that everyone's steppin' it up, it's anyone's game. With five dope crews left, who do you think is the front-runner? Take another look at this week's performances and tell us who's on top!
Each week, we've brought you an ABDC guest blogger from seasons past and this week we got some Strikers All-Stars love! Mike Washington did us (and apparently himself) a favor by flying in from Florida to chat up Shane "Step It Up" Sparks and JC Chasez and make sure that he wasn't fathering another child! Watch the video and you'll see what we mean ...
Winning America's Best Dance Crew isn't just about glory or street cred. For the dancers, it's also a life-changing opportunity. And Beat Ya Feet Kings' Porche Anthony knows taking home the title -- and the exposure and money that goes along with it -- would mean the world to her 2-year old daughter, who's been cheering her on back home.
"I've never been away this long," Porshe tells us. "I didn't have a mom when i was young ... so I never want her to feel like mom isn't around," she adds. "The fact that we talk every day and she gets to see me on tv helps. She just keeps watching repeats!"
Meanwhile, it looks like mom's got her work cut out for her. The Beat Ya Feet Kings are coming off a week where Shane Sparks accused them of stealing, so Porshe and her crew will need to come hard this Sunday if they want to prove him wrong -- and inch closer to the top two. The pressure is on ...
Last week, the judges came hard with criticism for the remaining crews, and apparently it lit a fire under everyone's ass. At last night's ABDC taping, the dancers fired back with some seriously smokin' performances. Here are a few highlights:
- A crew romance is revealed!
- More than one crew has some choice words for Shane Sparks
- One crew's undergarments end up on JC Chasez!
- Lil Mama scolds one of the girls by telling her to 'act like a lady!'
Sorry, that's all we can say for now. You'll have to tune in Sunday night for the good stuff. And we mean it: REALLY. GOOD. STUFF.
