Over the past three seasons, Dance Crew has celebrated Michael's, Janet's, Missy's and Britney's music -- and now we're finally ready for her jelly. Ring the alarm, y'all! It's time for Beyonce week! Similar to past artist-themed episodes, the crews have each been given a Beyonce song to perform to, plus Beyonce's issued out individual challenges based on each video's original choreography. Here's what you can be on the lookout for this week:
RHYTHM CITY "Sweet Dreams" - Must update "the Charleston," which is featured in the video.
WE ARE HEROES "Single Ladies" - Take the section of the video known as "the wind" and blow us away with their own version.
ARTISTRY IN MOTION "Diva" - Perform with chains incorporating the entire crew.
VOGUE EVOLUTION "Deja Vu" - Perform African-style dancing within their routine.
AFROBORIKE "Beautiful Liar" - Work exotic Shakira-like moves into the routine.
MASSIVE MONKEES "Work It Out" - Dance with hula hoops without accidentally dropping them.
SOUTHERN MOVEMENT "Jumpin' Jumpin'" - Bust out all the moves from the video with new creativity.
BEAT YA FEET KINGS "Crazy In Love" - 'Booty Pop' with never-before-seen flare.
Watching Hannah learn the ABC's (Run DMC's??) of rap on MADE got us thinking about all the other ladies doing their thing. Think Missy Elliott spits the best rhymes? Or are you more of a Lauryn Hill kindagirl? Take our poll and let us know who's the baddest female MC to ever rock da mic!
In past seasons, ABDC brought you challenges inspired by Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Missy Elliott, to name a few-- and now it's time to add Britney to the mix! This week, each crew will be given one of Brit's hits and asked to create a routine that resembles her choreography. Plus: Britney's choreographer, Andre Fuentes, will be meeting with the crews during rehearsal to present them an additional surprise challenge. (More details on that coming soon!)
Below are this week's song selections! (And yes, Ringmasters got "Circus".)
Strikers All-Stars - "Gimme More"
Fly Khicks - "Baby One More Time"
Quest Crew - "Toxic"
Dynamic Edition - "Stronger"
Beat Freaks - "Womanizer"
Ringmasters - "Circus"
Team Millennia - "Me Against The Music"
When the earthquake shook the set a few days ago, people scattered out of the building without giving it much thought. Unfortunately, Missy Elliott was in rehearsal, stuck in a box and waiting to come out for her big entrance. Money can buy you a lot -- just not someone to let you out of a box during an earthquake.
You've now seen both the Janet Jackson opening number with the final six, as well as the Missy Elliott opener with the final four. So, which routine rocked harder? Did the extra help of Missy being on stage bring the thunder or was Tiffani's entrance from the heavens above more titillating for you? Tell us: Which star brought more sparkle to the show and who should be invited on next?
Hanging around the hotel's rehearsal space this week, Fanny Pak shared a little tidbit of info about this week's ABDC mentor, Missy Elliott... Uh, she's a thief! Apparently, "Misdemeanor" (ahem!) wanted a keepsake from the show, which just so happened to be Tiffani's fanny pack. So she took it.
Despite the pic above, it wasn't all hugs for JC last night. After one of the earlier performances, Shane delivered a rave review while JC delivered a bit of a dis! While he applauded this particular crew's effort, he had to say, "I didn't think it was difficult at all."
The drama escalated when Shane started naming off the many "difficult" moves he noticed, to which JC responded, "And that's hard?" Burn!
Another big moment came when one crew received a standing ovation from all of the judges, including Missy Elliott. It's the first time that's happened this season, but after the episode airs Thursday night, we have a feeling it may become a regular occurrence.
Once again, the crews have an opening number to throw into their weekly memorization of dance moves, and this week's routine is more complicated than the last (much thanks to Hi-Hat, their choreographer). Also, they have the added pressure of a certain somebody joining them on stage. I saw the end product last night and I just have two words for you -- holy $%i@!! Check out the video of rehearsal and enjoy the sweat dripping from Beau's brow as he admits to being worked to the bone.
Who better to teach the remaining crews how to rock their Missy Elliott opening number than Missy's very own choreographer? Known purely as Hi-Hat, she's also put the moves on Pharrell, Kanye West, and Busta Rhymes, just to name a few. Think the crews will do justice to her routine?
