We've got a winner, folks! Liz, the sweet country gal with the powerful pipes, was crowned a star on tonight's finale, and she just couldn't be more delighted. Check out Liz's update below to find out her thoughts on the entire Starmaker experience!
What a ride it has been. Out of 14 singers in the pack, Diddy picked me -- the COUNTRY artist -- to represent BadBoy. I’m the happiest girl in the world!
I knew when I entered this competition that it was going to be tough, but being myself and staying true to who I am were key ingredients to the top spot. I have taken all the criticism from the Starmaker judges and turned it into positive advice to help further my career. And I feel blessed to have had the chance to work alongside so many great individuals, each with their own unique talents.
The Starmaker stage was nothing short of AWESOME. The moment I walked out with adrenaline pumping through my veins, the crowd cheering my name, I knew this was only the beginning of my journey!!
I want to thank Diddy and Mark Burnett for making such an amazing program! Also, the house band who rocked it out every week; vocal coach Romeo Johnson, who had the best techniques; Laurie Ann Gibson because she is such a motivator!; Tamara Conniff, who offered the best advice; and last but definitely not least, Rodney Jerkins, producer extraordinaire.
To all the people who have goals and dreams: Shoot for the **STARS** because you only live ONCE ... and DREAMS DO COME TRUE!
Now, as I sign with BadBoy I have just three words to say: Let’s make history!
Yeehaw!!
Liz
P.S. You can keep in contact with me through my Twitter and Myspace.
At the end of the Starmaker journey, it came down to two very talented singers ... and as with most competitions, only one person could win. Of course, Todd was disappointed when he wasn't picked, but that hasn't made him any less grateful for the experience of being on the show. Check out his update below...
Well … I had a good run. I wanted to win, and didn't -- but staying to the end allowed me to gain a great deal of knowledge and experience.
When I first met the cast, I knew the competition would be tough. The level of talent was exceptional, so making the Starmaker finale was a win in itself. I wish Liz the best. She is a talented performer and deserving of her success.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow cast members. Despite the negatives that competition can bring out, I know we shared a lot of laughs and a camaraderie that will live on.
Thank you Rodney Jerkins and Tamara Conniff for the positive comments that helped build my confidence week after week. Thank you Pete Wentz, Nicole Scherzinger,Lady Gaga, and Kelly Rowland for taking time out of your busy schedules to give us valuable advice. Thank you Romeo Johnson and Johnny Wright for being coaches, and also for your support and counsel. Thank you Laurie Ann Gibson for bringing out a side in me that I wasn’t sure existed.
I would also like to thank MTV, Mark Burnett and Diddy for giving me an opportunity to showcase what I do.
Know that the journey does not end here. I’m very grateful for being a part of Starmaker and am excited about what comes next. The van is gassed up and ready to hit the road. Stay tuned …
She may not have been the evening's big winner, but Melody is now giving thanks to all the people who helped her get so far in the Starmaker competition. Check it out:
First of all, I’d like to thank God for blessing me with not only this great opportunity, but also for a Mother that has always been there for me. She raised me right, and I thank God for her everyday of my life. I’d like to thank P. Diddy and Mark Burnett for being the first people to ever give me a chance. I’d like to thank the judges Rodney Jerkins, Tamara Conniff and Laurie Ann Gibson for making me feel like I belonged in this music industry. I’d like to thank my vocal coach on the show Romeo Johnson -- he was the Friend I needed and the teacher that showed me the way. I’d like to thank my stylist Gamila for being the brains behind every outfit I wore and for being the Coolest Lady I've ever met. I would especially like to thank my friend and mentor (Super Manager) Mr. Johnny Wright for his guidance and wisdom. And from the bottom of my heart, I want to congratulate Liz Davis for a job very well done.
The future looks mighty bright for yo girl Melody Angel. I am truly humbled and blessed for all God has given me. To all my fans, thanks for watching, listening and supporting me. I Love You All and I’ll See You Soon.
The judges didn't have many negative things to say tonight, but most of what they DID say was directed at Jordan. According to them, dude ruined Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours," missed a few key riffs and left the panel high and dry. Still, Rodney noted the positives in Jordan's performance (like his energy for days) and Laurie Ann encouraged him to ignore the naysayers (like, ahem, Tamara) and stick with his dreams.
And while Jordan and Omotayo both landed in the bottom two (the judges found Big Sexy's "American Woman" to be a Big Disappointment). at the end of the night, it was Jordan who was told he wasn't "ready" to be a star.
+ Think the judges were right to cut Jordan's Starmaker journey short? Or should they have listened to the crowd (he had them on their feet!) and given him one more chance? Take our poll and tell us whether Jordan's energy should've kept him alive another week.
Although Rodney, Tamara and Laurie Ann gave the guys some tough love this week, guest judge Nicole Scherzinger had nothing but nice things to say about everyone's performance. But was she really seeing stars last night? Talk of Fame's Albert Lawrence caught up with Nicole after the show and got her official take on last night's Starmaker. Find out what the PCDs' leading lady had to say about talent shows, inner stardom and sounding smart on tv. (Hint: it's all about the slooooow-talk.)
There's no question Alex plays a mean guitar. But he needs Laurie Ann Gibson (and a mini-miracle) to do something about those corny dance moves. Think he's too cheesy to share the stage with Diddy? Or do his musical abilities outweigh his "undesirable swag" factor? Take our poll and let us know whether dude should've stuck around -- or bunny hopped all the way home this week.
We loved seeing Dawn and Aundrea try and lift the guys' spirits on last week's Making the Band. But impromptu Mardi Gras parties aside, it's time these gals started focusing on their own probs (a.k.a. the fact that there are only 2 of them).
Listen up, ladies: when you want something bad enough, failure is not an option. But, as Day26 learned last week, doing nothing can be the most dangerous thing of all. Laurie Ann Gibson pretty much told y'all it's do-or-die time. So get ready to face the music!
And start thinking long and hard about what you're gonna tell Diddy the next time he asks about the future of Danity Kane.
The tension was so thick at the MTB4: live finale that fans in the studio were actually crying. The reason? Danity Kane were gathered in the same room together for the first time since Diddy kicked Aubrey out of the group.
And while we were all hoping for resolution, instead Puff dropped another bombshell -- D. Woods was out, too -- leaving fans and DK wondering whether a reconciliation was even possible and, if not, whether the group could still go on.
Frustrating as the wait has been, it's finally time to find out the future of Danity Kane. MTB kicks off again on Thursday, February 12, but don't miss an all-new show tonight (Damaged: A Making The Band Special), featuring exclusive interviews with Day26, Laurie Ann Gibson, Danity Kane, Sway and fans like you.
Tune in tonight at 9pm to take a look back at where it all went wrong, hear the cast's thoughts on that shocking finale facedown and find out whether the girls still have a chance to pick up the pieces on this season's MTB.
Is it just us, or was last night's Making the Band 4 totally all over the place?? It was like Diddy decide to take a season's worth of plot lines and jam-pack them into a single overflowing episode. From the unlikely injuries to the unexpected drama to the unabashed flirting, we saw it all. And now we're counting down the Three Weirdest Moment's from yesterday's show.
Weird Moment The First: Mike's crazy fan-related knee injury. Who knew street performing was such a dangerous business? Guess when your fans are as boy-crazy as Day 26's, even shopping's an extreme sport. Imagine someone loving you SO MUCH that they just had to smack you on the kneecap when they got close enough to touch you?? Actually, we can! It's kinda like how our dog is so excited to see us walk through the front door that he loses all bladder control and urinates on the linoleum floor. Out of love, people! Pure, unconditional, incontinent love...
Weird Moment The Second: Aubrey and D. Woods' pseudo-serious attempt at seducing a sailor. Listen girls, we totally get the whole "Ooh!-I-love-a-man-in-uniform" thing. But then why the sudden change of heart? As Blair Waldorf would say (if she were here and, inexplicably, friends with us) sailors are a lot like Kleenex -- use once and throw away. And if you're not-so-much into balled-up tissues? You probably shouldn't spend all day ogling them on the street.
Weird Moment The Third: The bizarre dance-fight between Brian and Laurie Ann Gibson. Okay, so this wasn't totally out of the blue -- after all, we did see it coming on yesterday's sneak-peek. And yet, the level of emotion completely caught us off guard. Jeez, man up, Brian! You're a celebrity, not a twelve year-old girl who just lost her lunch money. You were right to take one for the team, but next time? Maybe try not to let Laurie Ann bring out the waterworks.
+ Any weird moments that should've made it into the top 3? Tell us what you surprised you about last night's episode.
Last week on Making the Band 4, Diddy totes threw down with Aubrey O'Day, taking her to task for acting like she's above it all -- and for wearing more makeup than a drag queen convention at Lucky Cheng's. And this week, things are just as heated between Brian Angel of Day 26 and Laurie Ann Gibson (or, as we call her, LAG).
Check out this sneak peek from tonight's episode and admire LAG's ability to communicate solely through ear-shattering shrieks. And then get psyched. Because, as far as we're concerned, anything that involves Brian repeatedly shouting "I'm a grown man, M-m-m-miss Gibson!" has got to be good. Particularly since he sounds like a (slightly) higher-pitched version of Mike Tyson.
