It's quickly creepin' up on us. In just two weeks, a Season Four champion of ABDC will be crowned! Man, seems like just yesterday Season One's JabbaWockeeZ were blowin' us away with their awesome isolations. Still, the Jabbas had three other tough crews to top at this point in the competition, and that got us thinking ...
The current remaining crews are extremely different from one another, showing us the full spectrum of dance moves and making the competition that much more tough to judge. But are they the most talented final four from all seasons? Take the poll and tell us: Which group of dancers brought the game to its highest level?
Season 1 Final Four Crews JabbaWockeez, Status Quo, Kaba Modern, BreakSk8
Season 2 Final Four Crews Super Cr3w, SoReal Cru, Fanny Pak, Boogie Bots
Season 3 Final Four Crews Quest Crew, Beat Freaks, Fly Khicks, Strikers All-Stars
Season 4 Final Four Crews AfroBorike, Massive Monkees, Rhythm City, We Are Heroes
In the spirit of previous underdog crews like Fanny Pak and Fly Khicks, AfroBorike are fighting hard to win over the hearts -- and votes -- of ABDC audiences everywhere. And it's not just the mainland support that's propelling this sexy crew closer to the end.
"The whole island [of Puerto Rico] is promoting us right now," Josue Vega Torres tells us. "We are representing for all Latin countries though like Mexico, Columbia and Venezuela too," he adds. "We offer something different then just hip-hop and people are responding," adds Elisabet Riera. "It's anyone's race now," she predicts.
On the other hand, AfroBorike will really be out of their comfort zone for this week's Dance Craze Challenge. So will they be able to pull off the hottest steps in the dirty South? Keep your fingers crossed and you might just see some straight-up dirty dancing!
Don't get us wrong, Fly Khicks wished things turned out differently, but now that they've been 'sent home,' they'd actually like to get there! (According to the crews, the only good part about being eliminated is getting back to your families, friends and a normal life.)
During rehearsals this morning, Gina Francis told me, "We had two days off because we weren't allowed to go anywhere until the show aired on Thursday night, so Friday and Saturday were free before rehearsals started again on Sunday."
So what did the crew do when they got their first taste of freedom? Shopped, of course! Except Traci Young, whose beau flew in and surprised her. The couple spent a romantic day over at Universal Studios -- gettin' their khicks on the new Shrek 4D ride I imagine.
All the dancers are back in Los Angeles for the ABDCLive Finale this Thursday night -- and each of the seven crews who were previously eliminated are very much looking forward to this special shot at redemption. One more chance to take the Dance Crew stage and show off their stuff for America!
This year the judges chose how the crews would be grouped for the final dance numbers. Here's what you can expect to see and hear:
Performing to "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga
* Boxcuttuhz
* Beat Freaks
* Team Millennia
Performing to "Right Round" by Flo Rida
* Dynamic Edition
* Strikers All-Stars
* Quest Crew
Performing to "Numba One (Tide is High)" by Kardinal Offishall ft. Keri Hilson
* Fly Khicks
* G.O.P.
* Ringmasters
Judging by the smiles on the Fly Khicks' faces, you'd think they just won the Best Dance Crew title instead of being eliminated so close to the finale -- but that's just testament to the positive attitude these ladies brought to the stage each week as they rode an endless wave of bottom two standings. Hear what they had to say about their ABDC experience before officially peacing outta the competition.
Although it's technically been the shortest season of ABDC, the remaining crews are feeling the burn as they enter the final turn of the race. While often overlooked by fans and judges alike, the mental strain these dancers must endure for up to nine weeks straight is no small feat to overcome. In fact, it's been known to transform our man D-Trix into a total perv...
The guys from District 78 invited us into their sound-mixing studio to give us a heads up on the music for the crews' Last Chance Challenge. And while all three songs sound dope (Quest Crew's piano-based theme is dramatic, the Beat Freaks' rap is bangin' and the Fly Khicks refuse to go out as the underdogs!) sadly, you'll only be seeing (hearing?) two on ABDCdue to this week's early elimination.
So, listen up and listen good. Cause for one of these talented crews, this is the first -- and last time -- you'll get to hear their music play before the banner falls.
We've seen plenty of ABDC wardrobe changes over the last three seasons -- from masked heroes to glow-in-the-dark overalls to booty shakin' hot pants! And as the top three crews prepare for this season's most important episode, we can't help but wonder how much the clothes into your decision.
Sure, good dancing is ALWAYS in fashion. But as we've seen, wearing the right (or wrong) thing on stage can definitely enhance -- or detract from -- a performance. (Case in point: Dynamic Edition's infamous White Chicks incident.)
+ Think the Fly Khicks have gotten a boost from their sexy/sparkling costumes? Or are the baggy pants-loving Beat Freaks proof that it's not what you wear but how you move? You tell us: When it comes to voting, have you been awarding/deducting any points for style?
The tempo for this season of ABDC was set early on: Chicks Rule! And might I just say, it's about time some ladies dominated the stage.
After JC and Lil Mama gave the Beat Freaks mad props for last night's performance, Shane Sparks added, "I think you should be called America's Best Dance Crew," which caused a deafening roar from the studio audience. And by night's end, Fly Khicks handed the all-male squad of Strikers All-Stars a plane ticket back to Florida.
So, what do you think? Isthere a chance for an all-female final, or can Quest Crew rise above the hype?
Here's a little inside info about tonight's elimination: After Strikers All-Stars performed and the judges ripped Money Mike for inexcusably getting lost in his routine, ABDC producers asked Mario to reintroduce the crew because apparently they had experienced a technical issue during the initial take. So once again Mario called the Strikers onto the stage and they started to do their thing ... and you better believe Mike was dead on point this time! But alas, the producers only needed to catch the first 15 seconds of the routine.
The music stopped abruptly. The reality hit. Mike had nailed it on the second try, but there are no do-overs in dance.
