Dynamic Edition received a hero's welcome home when they returned to their small hometown of Winfield, AL, a few weeks ago. There was a huge party waiting for them when they got off the plane that seemingly had the whole town in attendance. And why wouldn't there be? They're the most famous group to come out of Alabama since ... well, the group Alabama!
Brandon Norris told me, "At home, we've been getting recognized everywhere, and people stop us all the time to talk about the show." In fact, there's so much interest in these dynamic cloggers that their town hall approved the building of a "Welcome To Winfield, Alabama - Home Of Dynamic Edition" sign that should hopefully be up later this year. Clog on!
All the dancers are back in Los Angeles for the ABDCLive Finale this Thursday night -- and each of the seven crews who were previously eliminated are very much looking forward to this special shot at redemption. One more chance to take the Dance Crew stage and show off their stuff for America!
This year the judges chose how the crews would be grouped for the final dance numbers. Here's what you can expect to see and hear:
Performing to "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga
* Boxcuttuhz
* Beat Freaks
* Team Millennia
Performing to "Right Round" by Flo Rida
* Dynamic Edition
* Strikers All-Stars
* Quest Crew
Performing to "Numba One (Tide is High)" by Kardinal Offishall ft. Keri Hilson
* Fly Khicks
* G.O.P.
* Ringmasters
We've seen plenty of ABDC wardrobe changes over the last three seasons -- from masked heroes to glow-in-the-dark overalls to booty shakin' hot pants! And as the top three crews prepare for this season's most important episode, we can't help but wonder how much the clothes into your decision.
Sure, good dancing is ALWAYS in fashion. But as we've seen, wearing the right (or wrong) thing on stage can definitely enhance -- or detract from -- a performance. (Case in point: Dynamic Edition's infamous White Chicks incident.)
+ Think the Fly Khicks have gotten a boost from their sexy/sparkling costumes? Or are the baggy pants-loving Beat Freaks proof that it's not what you wear but how you move? You tell us: When it comes to voting, have you been awarding/deducting any points for style?
It's Dance Crew time at Detox again! We were pretty heartbroken to see Ringmasters miss out on tonight's Illusion Challenge. Think of the things those guys would have done! Bone breaking, fancy hat tricks, arm dislocation ... basically what they did every other week. But it still makes me sad. (At this rate, I expect ABDC to have a clogging challenge for next week's episode.)
Speaking of Dynamic Edition, their exit taught Team Detox a valuable lesson: the aromas of beer and milk are severely unpleasant. The "pour one out for the cloggers" gag we shot left the crew gasping for air. Whoops! We would also like to apologize to the custodial staff who had to dispose of the stinky garbage pail that contained all the nasty fluids. Sorry, kids!
So pull a rabbit out of your hat and get impressed by Suri's telekenisis while you watch tonight's MTV Detox!
You couldn't help but root for ABDC's Dynamic Edition each week as they got the country excited about clogging ... and looked REALLY good doing it. We're gonna miss this crew for the versatility they brought to the show, as well as their determination to be taken seriously. Give a listen to their parting words and also hear from Fly Khicks about being saved (again!):
This week Bboy Kool Raul came back down to LA from the Bay Area to bring us all the backstage action before tonight's episode of ABDC! Watch the video to find out which crew rubbed him the wrong way during interview time...
This week the crews are being asked to incorporate illusions within their dance routines -- and pulling rabbits out of hats just isn't gonna cut it on this stage. With the help of famed magician, Franz Harary, the crews have spent the past few days trying to figure out how to make the following tricks work:
BEAT FREAKS - They'll make something float STRIKERS ALL-STARS - They'll walk through a solid object FLY KHICKS - They'll stretch like rubber QUEST CREW - They'll pass an object through their bodies DYNAMIC EDITION - One of them must appear out of thin air!
Wait! There's no lady getting sawed in half? Bummer.
After that whole 'White Chicks' sitch, Dynamic Edition were in bad need of a makeover -- both physically and mentally. Luckily what they wore this week did the trick! See what we mean...
Do you like magic? Tough crap if not because ABDC is hitting you with the Illusion Challenge this week! More to come on the specifics, but in the meantime, take a look at the crews' song selections:
FLY KHICKS - "Diva" by Beyonce STRIKERS ALL-STARS - "Swing" by Savage BEAT FREAKS - "Freeze" by Chris Brown & T. Pain QUEST CREW - "Got Money" by Lil Wayne & T. Pain DYNAMIC EDITION - "Starstruck" by Lady Gaga & Flo Rida
Brandon and his girl posse were floored this week when they didn't end up in the bottom two -- remember last week's 'White Chicks' performance? Post-show, Beth Petrunich confided that the crew felt as if they'd been stereotyped again by being given the song, "Achy Breaky Heart," but that they still managed to tear it up on stage.
The judges were impressed by these cloggers last night -- even Shane Sparks, who confessed to me before the show that he was going 'to kill them' if they didn't bring something new. (Thankfully, there was no bloodshed.)
You tell us: Do you think Dynamic Edition delivered their best performance yet? Think they have a real shot at the Dance Crew title?
