Truth be told, we were big fans of Brittany and hope she's not too shaken by the split. Still, a BFF-ship must go both ways -- and Paris just wasn't feelin' it anymore. For those of you skeptics who thought Paris Hilton wasn't really serious about finding a new BFF when she began the search on MTV a few months ago, behold Brittany's latest life update. High points include spending X-mas with Paris and her family, ringing in the New Year with each other in Australia and watching tons of Gossip Girl together while pigging out on breakfast food. Sounds like a best friendship to me. Take that, haters!

OK, since the last time I talked to you guys, Paris and I have been going out almost every night to clubs, all kinds of openings, etc. We also hang at her house a lot (I don't really go home to my place anymore ha ha). I think it's safe to say that I've claimed one of the guest rooms. And yes, believe it or not, it's pink.

Call off the search! On tonight's season finale of Paris Hilton's My New BFF, Brittany was officially chosen as Paris' brand-new bestie! And we've already heard the heiress explain why she TTYNed Vanessa (Duh, Brit was always the one!) and learned how hanging' with P. Hilton has changed Brittany's life for the oh-so-much-better.
But while Brittany and Paris both swear they're inseparable these days, we can't help but wonder whether this budding best friendship is strong enough to last a lifetime.

Since winning Paris Hilton's My New BFF, I've been living in LA, working on my music and hangin' out with Paris a whole bunch. I see her almost every day, and if we're not together, we're probably texting. I'm really looking forward to traveling more with her, as well as going out to clubs, staying in for movie nights, keeping each other company at our jobs, etc. etc.
When I'm out with Paris, it seems like we can go wherever -- and do whatever -- we want, and nobody will say 'no.' Everybody is so nice to us. Still, you can't really trust a lot of people. There are desperate fans always crowding around her and being obsessive, like following the car and showing up in the bushes of friends' and families' homes to get pictures.... It's way creepy.

Full disclosure: Before Paris Hilton's My New BFF premiered, I thought the idea of competing for someone's friendship was pretty dumb. Actually, I still do. The difference now is that I genuinely believe Paris and Brittany have come to care about each other and will remain close. Being a celebrity does has its advantages (Think: adoring fans, clothing freebies and invites to all the hottest parties), but despite what you see on TV, it ain't all perks and positive publicity. (Hello? E! True Hollywood Story, anyone??)
So what are some of the downsides to being uber-famous? Well, if you're Paris Hilton, that would be going through an extremely painful public breakup, getting slammed by the press for your choice in eveningwear and getting booed at a 16-year-old's birthday party -- then reading about it on Page Six. And that was just this week alone!
The way we see it? Brittany and Vanessa have the easy job -- after all, whoever wins Paris BFF gets all the trappings of fame without any of the unrelenting public scrutiny. The problem with celebrity? You can't turn it off whenever you "need a moment." And as P. Hilton re-learned this week, that's not always hot.
What a long, crazy season of Paris Hilton: My New BFF it's been! Tonight, we said buh-bye to Crazy Corrie and Snoozeworthy Shelley, which means only two girls (Brittany and Vanessa) are still in the running to become Paris' new bestie!
And while it's no secret we were on Team Onch all the way (FYI, if you're ever looking for a pigtailed cross-dresser with gastrointestinal probs, he's your man!) we wanna know which of the two remaining friendsies has the most BFF potential!
When we heard Paris Hilton was looking for a new BFF, we assumed she meant "best friend forever." But after reading today's NY Daily News, we're thinking she may have just been looking to trade in her bf, Benji Madden, for a newer/older model:
"Are Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos back on?" Rush & Molloy want to know. "Four days after bickering with rocker boyfriend Benji Madden at a party in L.A., the heiress flew to Miami, where she cozied up to the Greek shipping heir she once hoped to marry. 'They were nuzzling all night,' says our witness at club Mokai."
