When two seasons of "America's Best Dance Crew" had come and gone without a single female touching the championship trophy--and very few standing in the finale at all--a team of seven dancers averse to the notion that girl groups belong in G-strings made a splash in the competition. Beat Freaks set the stage on fire from their very first performance on the "ABDC" stage onward and were a force to be reckoned with until the last flag dropped.
Unfortunately, that flag was theirs, and Quest Crew became the third B-boy group to win the competition. Beat Freaks' efforts weren't in vain, though, and the septet that urged viewers--dancers or otherwise--to "freak the dream" set the stage for all-girl troupe We Are Heroes to claim the Season 4 title.
Now, members of the crew that has performed with the likes of Madonna and Britney Spears are pursuing personal projects (one is even a proud momma!), but they are still tightly knit. Below, check out what Keeley Kaukimoce told Remote Control on behalf of her fellow dancers, take a look at the Beat Freaks website for the latest on the ladies' activities and feast your eyes on what's widely considered one of the best performances in the history of the competition.
How did the group meet?
The majority of us were active in the underground hip-hop movement but ultimately came together because we had kindred spirits and a determination to learn and inspire, and be the best representation of women in hip-hop and beyond.

Demi Lovato's name has made MTV News headlines all week as she gets settled into a treatment facility for what her rep called "emotional and physical issues that she has dealt with for some time." People close to her told RadarOnline.com she has experienced problems in the past with being bullied, cutting herself and poor body image, but there's been a ton of speculation over what prompted the sudden decision to seek inpatient care.
This just in: The catalyst came in the form of a Beat Freak.
According to TMZ, the Beat Freaks' Alex Welch of Season 3's "America's Best Dance Crew" is walking around with a big shiner due to a scuffle with Lovato--and it was that scuffle that served as Lovato's bottom, as well as a wake-up call to get help.
A Lovato family source told People that after the physical altercation, which took place on an airplane, "Demi felt awful about her behavior and realized she needed to take personal responsibility for it. Because of this, and because of the battles Demi has fought throughout her life, both she and her family realized she needed to take steps to get help immediately."
+ Check out the video for more details from Julie Alexandria of "The Seven." We're pulling for Demi here at MTV HQ, and also hoping Alex's face makes a quick recovery.

Last year, Quest Crew, delivered one of the most memorable performances in ABDC history during the Last Chance Challenge. It can even be argued that their cinematic, piano-inspired routine helped propel them to victory over the Beat Freaks, who -- up until the next-to-last episode -- were heavily favored to win. So how important is this week's competition for We Are Heroes?
"For America and ABDC, it's about putting on a show and entertaining," WAH's Riquel Olander told us shortly before taping. "We decided to go out there tonight and do us, but do us in a way that is still going to entertain. We know people in both top two crews from last season and we've had the chance to ask what they would -- and wouldn't -- do differently, so we're going to take their advice to heart."
That said, it's been a tough week for everyone so far. All the crews have been burning the midnight oil, hoping to lock in the win -- and learn two lengthy routines, although WAH still promises to deliver a killer set.
"As tired as we are and as sick as we are, we just have to follow through with a strong performance and not just give a dance show," Riquel declared.
And while the Heroes are looking to give audiences the show of their lives, they're not ready to hang up their dancing shoes just yet. "We wanna follow in Quest's footsteps," Riquel told us. "[W]e want to win the show."

It's quickly creepin' up on us. In just two weeks, a Season Four champion of ABDC will be crowned! Man, seems like just yesterday Season One's JabbaWockeeZ were blowin' us away with their awesome isolations. Still, the Jabbas had three other tough crews to top at this point in the competition, and that got us thinking ...
The current remaining crews are extremely different from one another, showing us the full spectrum of dance moves and making the competition that much more tough to judge. But are they the most talented final four from all seasons? Take the poll and tell us: Which group of dancers brought the game to its highest level?
Season 1 Final Four Crews
JabbaWockeez, Status Quo, Kaba Modern, BreakSk8
Season 2 Final Four Crews
Super Cr3w, SoReal Cru, Fanny Pak, Boogie Bots
Season 3 Final Four Crews
Quest Crew, Beat Freaks, Fly Khicks, Strikers All-Stars
Season 4 Final Four Crews

Seated in opposite sections during Tuesday night's taping of ABDC were members of Quest Crew and Beat Freaks, last season's final two crews. And during the pre-show warmup, both Hok and Rino succumbed to requests for them to get into a spur-of-the-moment dance-off -- only instead of their skills being judged, it was the audience put the test this time!
Both ABDC alumni playfully tried to pump up their respective bleachers by dancing for the audience and *attempting* to have them replicate their moves. And the fun didn't stop there. Towards the end of the taping, Shorty got on stage and displayed her signature head spins, to which the boys of Quest Crew delivered mad applause.

All week long Remote Control will be posting reactions to Michael Jackson's death from select ABDCrews. Check out Rino from Beat Freaks's stunned response below...
I'm still in denial about what happened to Michael. I don't even know how to begin expressing my thoughts since he's been the biggest inspiration to me, ever. He really influenced who I am today. All I can do is pray for his soul and his family, friends and all the Michael fans that have been effected by this news.
On Thursday afternoon, Maryss and I were teaching class and playing Michael's songs as our warm up because there was a slight chance of us going to check out his rehearsal later that night. After our class, the rest of Beat Freaks gave us the news.
We couldn't believe it, didn't feel it. I thought it was another bad rumor, yet all my friends kept texting and calling me about the news. We had to do something, so we went to his parents' house to show some love, respect and support. When I got home, the media was forcing me to face the fact that he was gone. I couldn't sleep. I just kept watching Michael's videos on MTV. I was very emotional and kept thinking about how he's been there all my life.
