During a little down time from filming rehearsals this morning, we snooped around backstage and found some artist drawings of the costumes each crew will rock during their group numbers. Check 'em all out, then tell us whose gear looks the hottest!
All the Season Four crews trickled back into Cali this week to reconnect with each other and rehearse a special number for ABDC's live finale. The excitement revved up immediately after finding out that they'd be split into three different groups for a Judges Choice performance. Check out the lineup:
Shane Sparks' group - Beat Ya Feet Kings, Massive Monkees, Southern Movement
"I Do (Represent)" Lil Jon ft. Swizz Beatz & Snoop Dogg
Lil Mama's group - Artistry In Motion, Vogue Evolution, We Are Heroes
"Girls On The Dance Floor" Far East Movement
JC Chasez's group - AfroBorike, Fr3sh, Rhythm City
"Fire Burning" Sean Kingston
Friday we revealed that last week's eliminated crew, Artistry in Motion, made a surprise visit to ABDC's Episode 3 taping. It took a lot of guts to show up to the scene of their dramatic exit, but it seems that time -- and good food -- heal wounds. Listen to the girls tell members of Fanny Pak how they spent their brief days of mourning:
Before Episode 3 of ABDC began to film last night, the seven remaining crews all stood on the stage anxiously waiting to hear "We're on in 20!" (showbiz lingo for "We're going to start filming in 20 seconds."). Then, with one minute left to spare, the warm-up guy pointed out that Quest Crew, Ringmasters,Fanny Pak and recently eliminatedArtistry in Motion were in the stands, to which the fans and Season 4 crews roared. Here are some other fun highlights from the evening:
- JC Chasez loses his ability to form a sentence after one crew's cat-like performance.
- Shane Sparks calls out a crew for being "boring" and another for stealing from YouTube.
- Lil Mama claims to have a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do.
- Bottom two = Best performances of the night (or so the judges had to say!).
A week ago, we introduced you to our new (and improved!) way of sounding off about a performance from the previous night's episode of ABDC. And because you seemed to dig the feature so much, we're giving you another crack at it (and probs a milli more if you keep saying positive things).
This time, g'head and dissect Artistry in Motion's (good? bad? fugly?) moves from Episode 2. Were they a hot, dance-hall mess ... or did the ladies get robbed?
How To Play: Check out A.I.M's doomed routine all over again, click on the "Share" button (on the player timeline) when you've got something to say, then post your comment on Facebook/Twitter to show your friends. (To see what everyone else has been sayin', just roll over the squares at the bottom of the player.) Judgment Day is here yo!
+ Like having the power to share your opinion with everyone you know? (Um, of course you do. That's kinda the point of the internet, no?) Tell us what you think of ABDC's new-school form of post-game analysis!
For the first time in four seasons of ABDC, when tonight's eliminated crew was told to "walk it out," they literally walked it right out of the building! Yep, before the dust had a second to settle, an extremely distraught Artistry in Motionripped their costumes off and b-lined it for the vans waiting to take the crews back to the hotel. Luckily, we were able to convince the ladies to talk with us one last time before they rode off into the night. Watch their tearful goodbye...
AfroBorike's Elisabet Riero was the first dancer to deal with an injury, and now it seems as if she's kicked off a trend on the set of ABDC.
Artistry In Motion's Larissa Crecco fell to the stage in mid-rehearsal just one day before Thursday night's taping. Check out the video below to hear how Larissa's accident affected her and the rest of the crew.
When we caught up with the crews at their Hollywood dance rehearsal space, they were still very geek'd out about their first performance on ABDC. Vogue Evolution, We Are Heroes and the rest of the dancers filled us in on what it was like when the lights came up -- and how much they're looking forward to this week's Beyonce Challenge.
Over the past three seasons, Dance Crew has celebrated Michael's, Janet's, Missy's and Britney's music -- and now we're finally ready for her jelly. Ring the alarm, y'all! It's time for Beyonce week! Similar to past artist-themed episodes, the crews have each been given a Beyonce song to perform to, plus Beyonce's issued out individual challenges based on each video's original choreography. Here's what you can be on the lookout for this week:
RHYTHM CITY "Sweet Dreams" - Must update "the Charleston," which is featured in the video.
WE ARE HEROES "Single Ladies" - Take the section of the video known as "the wind" and blow us away with their own version.
ARTISTRY IN MOTION "Diva" - Perform with chains incorporating the entire crew.
VOGUE EVOLUTION "Deja Vu" - Perform African-style dancing within their routine.
AFROBORIKE "Beautiful Liar" - Work exotic Shakira-like moves into the routine.
MASSIVE MONKEES "Work It Out" - Dance with hula hoops without accidentally dropping them.
SOUTHERN MOVEMENT "Jumpin' Jumpin'" - Bust out all the moves from the video with new creativity.
BEAT YA FEET KINGS "Crazy In Love" - 'Booty Pop' with never-before-seen flare.
So far, most of the Season 4 dancers have been in culture shock as they adjust to the lights and cameras of Hollywood, but for Artistry In Motion's leader, Donyelle Jones, this is a road she's been down before ... And that's because she finished as the top female on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance!
"There's a lot more on my shoulders now," she told us yesterday, "because I'm now responsible for everything we do on stage." (On SYTYCD, choreographers planned out what the dancers would perform each week, but ABDC allows the crews to create and showcase their own moves.) Ultimately, what matters most to Donyelle is that her crew "portrays women in hip-hop as more than just booty-shakin' objects." Amen, sistah!
