Tonight's "True Life" explored the stories of two young people who were struggling with severe social anxiety. We had an opportunity to check in with them to find out how their lives have changed since filming wrapped -- take a look at the follow-up Q&As below.
Did participating in the show make you more aware that you had a diagnosable disorder?
I still don't feel that my disorder has been properly diagnosed, and the anxiety caused by social situations is only part of something deeper.
Do you think you're now more aware of how much social anxiety holds you back?
Being on the show definitely opened my eyes to the limitations my anxiety creates for me. It wasn't until actually telling my story out loud that I became aware of how unfulfilled my life has been.
Was the trade-off in stopping Paxil worth it?
There is no better or worse when I have Paxil operating in my system. My decision to stop taking the drug was not met with a consequence, I only reverted to my former self. Both states of being were unbearable, I just chose the one with which I am most familiar.
Where do you think you will be in five years?
I have to start from scratch, so I imagine in five years I will be living on my own and finishing school.
