Top TV Shows

MTV wouldn't be MTV without the shirtless hunks, epic fights and eyebrow-raising drama. But this year, none of those network staples were limited to spring chickens. That's right, kiddos, we were equal opportunity employers in 2012, hiring some prime choice, grade-A MILFs and DILFs to do our dirty work!

The sexy parentals came in all shapes and sizes--from badass wolf killers to suburban PTA presidents--but they all had one thing in common: HOTNESS. Take a peek at our picks for the year's top MILFs and DILFs, and keep checking back at Remote Control this week as we roll out more of our Best of 2012 lists!

MILF: Lacey Hamilton
Show: Awkward.
Jenna's mom is an undeniable MILF. Lacey may have a few strikes against her--she did, after all, write the infamous Carefrontation letter--but the former teen mom can sure work a two-piece (let’s hope the Hamilton hot tub makes a re-appearance next year)! And though Mrs. H went through a rough patch in her marriage this season, she came out the other side stronger and more self-aware than ever before.

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been promising a new "Challenge" chock full of nasty rivalries and over-the-top feuds, but up until now, we haven't had license to show you much. Consider this your pay day! In addition to releasing the first act of the premiere this morning, we're giving you the below Spy Cam clip featuring some major action at the villa in Turkey.

Apparently, someone made a comment about a same-sex lip lock (Frank and Derek!?), which instigates a fight between Jonna and Trishelle. After some vicious name-calling, Trishelle's Las Vegas teammate Alton steps in to sound off against Zach, who appears to be defending the Cancun cutie's honor. Hmm, we wonder what Ashley has to say about her man swooping in to play white knight for another girl? Could it be that ZAshley's post-San Diego bliss was short-lived?

The competitors of "The Challenge" have only worked in pairs for the last few seasons, and though it was tricky teaming up with ex-hookups and rivals, group efforts can be just as trying. Still, when beauty queen Devyn learned that she'd be on a team with her former Real World: Brooklyn roomies, we imagine she breathed a heavy sigh of relief. After all, at her season's reunion, she gushed about her housemates, saying they were a valuable support system that made her want to be a better person. From the outside, it looked like Devyn's relationship with the other BK alum was in good standings.

Unfortunately for Devyn, however, looks can be deceiving. Thanks to this insider Spy Cam, we get a front row seat to the battle royale of "Challenge" smack-talking, in which Devyn's support system former roommates--Chet, Sarah and JD--spend their free time lounging around the villa railing against her "vanity." Well, we'll she'll be damned...

There's definitely something addictive about "The Challenge." After all, we're now entering our 23rd season of The Games! For us, the intense physical and mental competitions are the initial draw, but it's the personal stuff that keeps us coming back for more each week. This show has seen everything along the love spectrum: from innocent flirtations to blossoming relationships. And let's not forget the awkward rejections! The Spy Cam vid below is a perfect example...

We've got to give props to our favorite Mormon hipster Chet for so shamelessly trying to woo Las Vegas vet Trishelle...in her bed! The Brooklyn castie tries everything--a back massage, playful spooning  and some witty banter--to win over her heart, but the professional poker player just won't take the bait. To be honest, we're not totally sure why she's so resistant! Chet's got a unique sense of style (hello there, Gatsby) and the charm of a professional on-air personality; a girl could do worse. Maybe it's because she knows a master manipulator when she sees one, or maybe she's just not into his negative energy, but either way, it looks like Trishelle will be putting the kibosh on any romantic entanglements with Chet this season.

+ Think Chet will be able to charm his way into Trishelle's heart (or anyone else's, for that matter) on "Battle Of The Seasons"? Check out the clip and share your thoughts!

Over the course of its many seasons, "The Challenge" has changed a lot. It's lived everywhere from Namibia to Prague; it's seen its cast members compete alone, with their exes and on teams comprised of "Real World" housemates; and it's even changed hosts a few times. But no matter how much the show differs from season to season, there is always one reliable constant: CT drama. With so many different personalities living in one (enormous) house together, it's natural for people to rub each other the wrong way. Add booze and hundreds of thousands of dollars at stake, and insignificant scuttles become full-fledged, dishes-being-thrown blowouts.

When "Real World" headed back to San Diego for a second run, life for the new batch of housemates meant sun, sand and, of course, fighting. Many of the season's memorable moments can be traced back to Hurricane Frank, whose roller-coaster emotions gave everyone else in the house some serious whiplash. Frank was never more outspoken than when defending his (and roomie Sam's) sexuality to conservative uber-jock Zach. The pair started out cool, but things took a turn for the worse the first time Frank brought home a boy after a night out.

The tension between the guys peaked when Zach made his infamous "I will beat the gay out of you" comment; after that, Frank considered his roomie a lost cause. The two continued to butt heads even after the series wrapped and spent most of the Reunion at each other's throats. BUT, thanks to the Spy Cam video below, we know that they have since buried the hatchet and are now...wait for it...bros! Apparently, Zach and Frank's San Diego sparring is water under the bridge, and both are more focused on looking good in their skivvies while clowning around together on "Battle Of The Seasons."

+ Think Frank and Zach can put their past feud to rest and continue to build their bromance? Check out the clip and share your thoughts!

When "Real World" went down to Austin, the relationship that developed between Danny, the strong, sensitive guy next door, and Melinda, the all-American blonde bombshell, seemed like it was ripped from the pages of an illustrated story book (we've even got the photo album to prove it!). By the end of their season, the pair were an official couple, and Melinda moved from Wisconsin to Boston so that she and Danny could begin a new life together. Unlike so many other reality show 'ships, this one made its way to the altar in 2008, and they lived happily ever after for two years.

Danny and Melinda ultimately got divorced, but, as evidenced by the Spy Cam video below, the former Mr. and Mrs. have maintained a--dare we say--friendship! And, with old roomie Wes (himself a victim of the "Real World" relationship bug) playing (re)matchmaker in Bodrum, Melinda is reminded of what she could have had if her marriage lasted (apparently a sword?).

+ Think Melinda and Danny will be able to put their past behind them and work together as a team? Check out the clip and share your thoughts!

When Southern firecracker Jemmye and Midwestern-bred puckhead Knight arrived in New Orleans for their season of "Real World," there was instant chemistry. The roommates--and we, too--watched as the sexual tension grew more and more intense, even though Jemmye kept swearing that Knight just wasn't her type. After what felt like forever (okay, it was only three episodes), the pair's friendship evolved into something grander, and Jemmye let Knight swoop in to take her "white boy virginity."

MTV’s newest resident sex and relationship guru Dan Savage is trekking across the country to enlighten America's coeds and help them better understand the sexual culture that exists today. But what happens once Dan offers his pearls of wisdom to the eager undergrad? We usually don't get to see the students put his advice into practice, but luckily our own MTV family members can show us all how it's done. This week's advice in action: Do have that "Awkward" talk about expectations.

For the season finale of "Savage U," our sexperts decided to go BIG before going home. And there was no better place to go big than in the great state of Texas, where everything is supposedly...bigger. On their final campus visit, Dan and Lauren braved the tumbleweeds to help students at Texas Tech University, and during their time there, the pair encountered a fair share of real boot-wearing cowboys and learned about the infamous Raider Rash—a mythic STI that "spreads" as a result of the student body's vigorous sexual appetite.

Toward the end of his stay, Professor Savage met with Blake, a Southern gentleman who had been dating a (gasp!) virgin. Right from the start, his girlfriend was upfront about wanting to wait for the right guy to come along and sweep her off her feet (and into bed), and Blake was respectful of her decision to move slow. But after they’d been together for a while, she admitted that she wasn’t just waiting for a nice guy to swipe her V-Card, but rather a husband. Blake was left feeling like he'd been strung along, and subsequently, feeling guilty for putting sex so high on his list of relationship priorities. Check out the clip:
