Top TV Shows

It was not easy to crown a winner for this week's episode of "Caged." Daniel broke up with Brittani and developed stress-related shingles, which meant he had to bow out of his fight, Danger was consumed with the aftermath of running Karate Mafia into chaos and poor Wes went down in the octagon on his son's first birthday. With all of these unfortunate turns, it's tempting to name adorable birthday boy Jaxon this week's champ, but here's why we actually decided to give his papa the edge.

He Didn't Fight With Red
Wes and Red didn't see eye to eye on how to celebrate their son's first bash. Red wanted to have a party on Jax's birthday, but since Wes had a match scheduled in New Orleans that day, he decided to hold a separate event for his son. While it would have been nice for Jax to have both parents together, at least they were able to resolve their differences calmly.

He Miraculously Cut Weight
Meeting weight requirements is an important part of cage fighting, and Wes must have been panicked to see that he was still 6 pounds above his weigh-in limit upon arriving in New Orleans. Even though he was exhausted from flying in from a business trip, he hopped on the treadmill in a sweat suit without complaint. He didn't give up until he sweated off every last pound.

During last week's episode "Battle of the Exes," Sarah and Vinny were sent home as a result of Vinny's ungentlemanly behavior towards Mandi. There are ways to leave "The Challenge" with dignity, and then are reasons to pack everything up that have nothing to do with the competition at all. Here are the most shocking exits in "Challenge" history.

Puck on "Battle of the Sexes"
The bad boy from "Real World San Francisco" started trouble before the game even began, getting into a fight with David from "Real World: Los Angeles" and spitting in his face. David tried to get him sent home for his lewd actions, and when production came to remove him from the show, the cast rallied in support. A few episodes later, Puck married his longtime girlfriend in a ceremony that was witnessed by most of his competitors, but his happiness was short-lived when his bride was detained by authorities. Puck went ballistic as a result and trashed the house, which led to his early departure.

Steven on "Battle of the Sexes Part II"
If you're a die-hard viewer of "Real World" and "The Challenges," then you know that physical violence is always unacceptable. Steven from the original "Real World Las Vegas" crew learned that lesson the hard way when he slapped his teammate Shane during the heat of competition. Even though Shane wasn't offended, the game was halted and Steven was eliminated immediately.

This week's "Caged" champ was in danger of getting buried by personal responsibilities, but ultimately pushed through and pulled off a major victory. Matt aka "Danger" stepped up in a major way in the latest episode, impressing everyone, including fellow fighters Wes and Daniel. Let's take a look at why Matt is our latest winner!

He Shouldered His Burdens With Grace
Danger was asked to run Karate Mafia while owner Donny served time in prison. KM entrusted the 21-year-old to manage the business, but Danger was worried about whether or not he could balance all of his duties. Even though he had no experience running a business, the young fighter embraced his new role as the head of the gym.

During the first episode of "Battle of the Exes," newbies Nate and Priscilla were unfortunately destroyed by vets Wes and Mandi. But just because the "Real World San Diego" roomies bounced so early doesn't mean we should bank on an early exit for the remaining newbies. Everyone's capable of victory, and here's why we think "Real World Las Vegas" alums Dustin, Heather and Naomi could surprise everyone and go far in the competition.

Dustin and Heather
Even though they're new at this, Team Duster have a lot going for them. For one, they're no longer exes! We learned in their preseason interview that they overcame the trust issues that broke them up on "Real World: Las Vegas," so they won't have to deal with the tension that other teams do. Plus, Heather and Dustin impressed everyone by beating vets Paula and Dunbar during the sticky Honey Challenge last week.

After demonstrating his physical abilities--and strength of character--during a pivotal MMA match in this week's episode, there was no question that Daniel would be our latest "Caged" champ. Minden's golden boy rose to the occasion and made his community proud, including fellow fighters Wes and Danger. Here are even more reasons why Daniel snagged the honor this week.

He Ruled The Cage
Daniel had a lot to prove to himself after suffering a devastating knockout in his last fight. The pressure to win was compounded by the fact that the match was taking place on the four-year anniversary of his former girlfriend Hannah's death. Daniel was able to channel his emotions into a thrilling victory.

He Honored Hannah's Memory
A bonus scene revealed that Daniel requested a moment of silence for Hannah before his match, a gesture that meant a lot to her attending family. After winning his fight, he gave a moving interview and expressed hope that his big win could give new meaning to the anniversary date. Daniel's grace and eloquence during such a difficult time was impressive.

With "Battle of the Exes" premiering Wednesday, we couldn't help but think about other former celebrity couples who might benefit from being teamed up together. Perhaps by spending time in close quarters, they could finally work through the bad mojo that split them up in the first place and rekindle the happier times. Or even better, entertain us with the nonstop drama that would surely come from being forced to live together. Here, six ex supercouples we think should appear on the show.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
These two only managed to stay married for 72 days, so how long would they last as teammates? (We think 72 minutes.) As for how they would fare in the competition, Kris is a big dude--not to mention a pro-baller--so he would have a definite height advantage over the other guys, but Kim's diva attitude would probably get them sent to the The Dome right away.

Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne
As we reported earlier this month, the former "Hills" hunk and his pop star girlfriend went splitskies. Since their friends have said a reconciliation is possible, competing on "The Challenge" could be just what they need to bring them back together. In our dreams, the duo would square off in The Dome against Brody's other famous ex, Lauren Conrad, and her former flame Jason Wahler. Imagine the drama!

During Monday night's "Caged," Wes and Daniel were unable to compete due to their injuries (from a bar fight and KO punch, respectively), leaving Matt the only one to fight in the octagon. Not only did he show us how he earned the nickname "Danger," he also proved why he was worthy of being crowned this week's winner.

He Commits To His Dream
All the Minden boys on "Caged" aspire to be professional MMA stars, but Danger's so determined to fulfill his dream that he quit his job to focus on training full time. He also took a step that most twenty-somethings would dread: moving back in with his mom (pictured above).

He's On The Path To Stardom
Danger trains with the Karate Mafia, and the group of amateur fighters are like his second family--they even helped him move back into his mom's house. But although all the guys in Karate Mafia have a desire to become professional fighters, only Danger was interviewed for the local news station. Following his TV appearance, he believed the media exposure would help him become a well-known fighter.

Hey "Caged" fans! Each week we're going to crown the champion of the episode based on the fighter we felt scored the highest--inside and outside the cage. For the premiere, soft-spoken single dad Wes nabbed the title over Daniel and "Danger." Read on to see why we thought Wes was the big winner!

He Sweats It Out
Wes went to amazing lengths to make sure he could compete in his big MMA match. Not many people would sit inside a car on a hot day to sweat off the pounds in a sauna suit, but he was determined to slim down so he could compete in his weight class. Since he only lost 3 pounds from the car stunt, Wes was stoked when he made the cut by just 1 pound. Unlike "golden boy" Daniel, Wes didn't have a lot of money to support his MMA dreams, so the fact that he was able to meet the match requirements was a victory in itself.

During the season finale of "Real World: San Diego," Zach and Ashley shared a tearful goodbye, but they both made it clear that they intended to continue dating. We have no idea whether or not their San Diego-born relationship will withstand the agony of living apart, so we decided to look to other "Real World" couples for clues. Let's see if ZAshley have a chance at lasting romance.

Pam and Judd, "Real World: San Francisco"
No one expected these two to become a couple. For one thing, she was a busy medical student and he was a nerdy cartoonist. For another, she had a boyfriend at the time. So it was a surprise to all Frisco fans to learn that the two became a couple after the show ended. They have been married since 2001 and still live in The Bay.

Rachel, "Real World: San Francisco" and Sean, "Real World: Boston"
Rachel and Sean have three things in common: They're both "Real World" alumni, dedicated Republicans and very attractive. No wonder these two fell in love while filming "Road Rules: All Stars." They married 18 months after they met and have gone on to successful careers (Rachel as a guest host on "The View," and Sean as a first-year congressman). Rachel and Sean also have six (yes, six!) kids.

Alton and Irulan, "Real World: Las Vegas"
These roomies were instantly attracted to each other, which was problematic since Irulan already had a boyfriend. Eventually, they gave into temptation and hooked up, which led to a tempestuous romance filled with fights, tears and drama that lasted all season long. Alton and Irulan's relationship continued after the show ended, but they split up three years later. When the cast reunited in 2007, the exes revisited painful wounds and dragged old roomie Arissa into their mess.

Wes and Johanna, "Real World: Austin"
The "Austin" series is memorable for birthing two roommate romances. Wes and Johanna had a fun and flirty relationship during the show, and Wes even used Johanna to make his dream girl jealous. But these two only had eyes for each other once their season wrapped, and announced that they were dating during the reunion show. They both appeared on "Fresh Meat," and Wes pledged to use his prize money to buy the pretty brunette an engagement ring. Unfortunately, their relationship fizzled and the drama from the split played out during "The Ruins," when Wes, Johanna, and Wes' new girlfriend (KellyAnne from "Real World: Sydney") all competed on the show.

We like to think that Santa Claus watches MTV, but he's a pretty busy guy so we understand if he'd rather spend his spare time drinking hot toddies and listening to smooth jazz. Which is why we thought we'd help the fat man figure out which of our network's stars should be on his "naughty and "nice" list this holiday season. It's the least we could do, and frankly, we could use the extra credit.

NAUGHTY

The "Jersey Shore" cast
The hard-partying guidos and guidettes worked overtime at being scandalous in 2011. They probably deserve lumps of coal in their stockings, but then again, would they have it any other way? If you need a reminder of why they're on the naughty list, take a look at the Season 5 trailer. Or revisit the night Snooki flashed her koo-kah for all the world to see (and cringe).

Derek Hale, "Teen Wolf"
Derek has always had an unmanageable temper, but now that he's the new Alpha, his crossover to the dark side definitely lands him on the "naughty" list. Jackson, however, may be willing to put a few gifts under the brooding guy's tree if he's finally given that werewolf bite he's been pining for.

Sadie Saxton, "Awkward."
Sadie's parents may be rich, but there's no way she could buy her way to a spot on Santa's good side. Especially when she tried to make life so miserable for Jenna! Unless she puts in a real effort to change her mean girl ways, Saint Nick won't be saying "you're welcome" anytime soon!

Beavis and Butt-Head
They're crude, their crass, and if Santa ever visited their crash pad, they'd probably just trap him in the chimney and steal his sleigh full of presents. There's not a snowball's chance in hell they would be on the "nice" list. Like, duh.

NICE
