Top TV Shows

This is what victory looks like.

Ever since I discovered Eric Nies and his impossibly chiseled abs on television as an 11-year-old, I knew that MTV was the place for childhood wonderment. The series he sometimes-hosted was called "The Grind," and while the show's set would probably now look like a scene from a sleezy Saturday night in Seaside (sorry, guys), I was young, sprite and believed the network to be the place where girls who'd just grown into their disproportionately large ears and nose could go and shimmy their hips while wearing denim mini skirts on the beach. MTV wasn't this abstract and intangible cable channel stationed in a faraway land manned by chocolate-covered gumdrops; rather, it was an actual person, place and thing (later when deciding to be a journalist I'd learn that this is also called a noun). I wanted to go to there.

So I did. For many moons, I scribbled posts about Hillzian-in-Chief Lauren Conrad and her rise to world domination (which also included the collapse of Spencer Pratt, who once threatened to investigate me over Twitter [it took me 20 minutes to find proof of this]), live-tweeted "Jersey Shore" episodes from the privacy of my Barbie-sized toilet and once believed that, after working into the wee hours of the night for the 2010 Video Music Awards and losing all sense of spatial direction, I'd certainly meet my fate if I ingested One. More. Energy Drink. (This single sip won't kill me, I'd say.)

But now it's my time to bow out from the magical world of Remote Control, led by a phenom once-named Control Freak (she dropped some letters and now goes by Lisa). Sadly, many of you won't care about my departure and I can't blame you--ever since this kid showed up he's put my writing chops to shame--but I'd feel remiss if I didn't explain why you'll see my name appear on the blog less frequently. That, friends, would just be bad Internet.

As much as Farrah strives to successfully juggle the stress and responsibilities that come with being a single, financially independent parent and college student, Sophia is at the stage in her life where she requires much more attention than her mom can provide. So tonight, after exhausting all of her patience (and household cleaning supplies), Farrah bit the bullet and asked her own mother, Debra, for help.

Before the teen mom decided to relocate to Florida, the plan was for Sophia to hang back with her doting grandparents in Iowa. They were crushed after things didn't pan out, so when Debra heard that she'd get a second chance at round-the-clock babysitting, she couldn't hold back her excitement. This certainly wasn't the way Farrah thought her move to the Sunshine State would play out, but she finally realized she needed assistance if she was ever going to focus on her schoolwork.

+ Did Farrah make the right choice to swallow her pride and accept her parents' support? Take the poll!

Did Farrah make the right choice to send Sophia back?

  • No, she gave up too soon.
        51%
  • Yes, it was the right move all along.

After seeing how Allison rebelled against the hunter's code and ruthlessly attacked Boyd during last night's episode of "Teen Wolf," it seemed that the teen beauty had willfully crossed the point of no return. Even though she's spent the majority of Season 2 refusing to side with her family in an epic battle between man and beast, she couldn't ignore the fact that a werewolf--Derek--killed her mother. So, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Gerard, Allison began her dark journey toward retribution.

But is this the right path for her? "What do you do when someone kills your mom?" Crystal Reed contemplates in the cast interviews below. "I don't think that Allison believes that she's gone too far." But costar Dylan O'Brien, who plays Stiles Stilinski, certainly doesn't find her new behavior acceptable. "She's even going against her father's code, she's almost stepping into Gerard's role," he says.

+ Watch the clip to hear more of the cast's comments on Allison's changing personality, then share whether or not you're behind her plot for revenge!

'This is crazzzzy lol people love making stuff up,' Catelynn Lowell tweeted.

It's hard to walk by a newsstand and not notice the slick trough of weeklies constantly boasting gossip about your favorite celebutantes--we're certainly guilty of looking--and while some rags hold factual accuracy to a higher standard than others, a lot of content that gets printed is neither fair nor true. We've brought up the issue many times before--back in 2010, we even asked Remote Control readers if the tabloids should stop scrutinizing Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn (74 percent of you said yes at the time).

Catelynn Lowell, who's been in a committed relationship with longtime beau Tyler for many years, isn't satisfied with simply laughing off the many rumors, as people tend to advise--in fact, she has a real bone to pick with the press. Earlier this week, the "Teen Mom" cast member tweeted a photo from the inside pages of a popular magazine that suggested her engagement was off, and coupled it with the following note: "SUCH A LIE ARE YOU FOR REAL? Lmao this is so stupid. R u serious OK magazine?" Then she wrote the following 140-character messages to further defend their love. Case closed.

Now that Gerard's holding down the fort as the soulless sheriff in town, he's focused on one goal--avenging his daughter's death by killing Derek and his pack. Committed to this vision, Allison's grandfather threatened to have the Kanima mercilessly murder someone on tonight's episode of "Teen Wolf" if Scott didn't help him take down the Alpha.

So while the new bench warmer was weighing his grim options and trying to devise a plan to keep his reptilian enemy from clawing at another innocent's flesh, recently resuscitated (and significantly weaker) Peter Hale appeared to have developed a heart of some sort. Peter wanted to help his lone family member stay alive and reminded Derek that if Jackson were saved, he would be too.  All the lost lizard needed was to reconnect with selfless, authentic human love.

+ Do you think there's any truth to Peter's notion, or is Jackson in way too deep to be rescued? Take the poll!

Can Jackson be saved?

  • Yes, he just needs to feel Lydia's affection.
        86%
  • No way!

Farrah Abraham is the very definition of a hardworking mom. Not only has the ever-focused entrepreneur developed her own line of homemade tomato sauce, she's also unleashed her past demons onto the pages of a new memoir, "My Teenage Dream Ended," which hits bookstore shelves August 14 (read the first chapter here). And just when we figured she'd be ready to take a breather from the hustle, we're now finding out that Farrah's even trying to tackle the pop music industry!

The "Teen Mom" go-getter can add singer to her list of career accomplishments, reports In Touch Weekly. "I'm happy again, and this is my song for finding happiness," Farrah said of her first track, aptly titled "Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom."

+ Have a listen to the single, then take the poll and let us know if you think she has what it takes to make it in the music world.

Every year, sun-worshiping guidettes are forced to endure the East Coast's wintry wrath. It's an unfortunate occurrence, but luckily, there's always spring break to look forward to. Some spray-tanned goddesses flee the tri-state area and head down to the southern states, while others pack up and leave the U.S. entirely, which is what Snooki and best bud JWOWW decided to do during the most recent episode.

Now that Eunice has her passport and the globe-trotting girls' warm-weather getaway is in full effect, there's nothing for them to do but kick back, relax and...ponder the sun and moon. In this sneak peek of Thursday's episode, the American travelers take in an impressive fire show while dining al fresco, and when Snooki asks a silly question about the solar system, Jenni takes a jab at her roommate's astronomy skills. (Hey, at least she knows a thing or two about UV light.)

Every Friday we thumb through your comments from the most talked-about post of the week--check out the latest That's What You Said topic below and make sure to share your own opinion!

Earlier this week, we posted a video of Farrah discussing her roller-coaster relationship with Debra, which hit its lowest point during Season 2 of "Teen Mom" when the situation became violent and police were called. Thankfully, the two have worked on their communication and grown since then, but during our latest "Teen Mom After Show," Farrah recalled some of the really dark mother-daughter moments from the past and how they affected her. We asked fans of the series to share their thoughts on the family's ups and downs, and here's a sample of what was posted on Remote Control and Facebook.

Remote Control:
"Farrah has been through a lot with her mom. Just imagine you're a pregnant teenager and you start to feel like no one cares and you don't have time to do anything. On top of that, you try to plan for the future. And that was how it was for Farrah. No one knows how it feels unless they experience what she went through." -- BeautyKills

"Farrah and her mom both have problems. It is very obvious there is still a lot of dysfunction going on there. Farrah still needs to learn a lot more about respecting her parents and other people that come into her life, or she will never be happy. She is only harming herself, and it's a shame she can't see that." -- Missy

"I used to dislike watching Farrah on the show, but now since she has moved to Florida, I like her way better! I think her mom's and her relationship has improved, even though Debra still gets on her at some points." -- truesuccess

Vinny and Melanie at MTV2's "Hip Hop Squares" premiere party in May.

"Guy Code" standout Melanie Iglesias may have just become America's (well, at least the tri-state area's) most hated female. According to tweets Vinny Guadagnino shared with his followers this week, dude is on his merry way to becoming totally wifed up by the hot model. How do we know it's that serious? Evidently, he sprung for dinner at the finest dining establishment around!

Love, peace and chicken grease.

And while the mac daddy and his new lady enjoyed their time chowing down on McNuggets, Vin's "Jersey Shore" roommates were glued to all of the 2012 Olympics glory. Snooki was caught up in 16-year-old American gymnast Gabby Douglas' floor routine last night (weren't we all?), and Ronnie was just stumped over the number of sports being played (really, you've never heard of canoeing, Ron?). His soon-to-be live-in lover, Sammi, may not have had too much to say on The Games themselves, but she tweeted up a storm about soccer--bend it like Beckham, girl!

+ Check out what MTV's best and brightest had to say on Twitter this week:

Whether this plea for a sting of cupid's arrow is sincere or not is hard to say, but Jared, YouTube's most hopeless romantic, hasn't given up on tracking down his soulmate, either on the internet or IRL. Even if it means airing his embarrassingly dirty laundry over the webs.

His last relationship didn't exactly pan out as he'd hoped, but Jared hasn't lost faith in the chase and explains what the girl of his dreams looks like in this cry for love (which, the farther you watch, gets increasingly more offensive so consider this your friendly warning). "I like my tan girls, like if you're covered in fake tan that's kind of OK," he shares, before saying that he thinks Snooki is hot (evidently he's not thrown off by the fact that she's engaged and mere weeks away from becoming a mom). But if (and when) she's not interested, the heartbreak kid says he's also into the underworld, so perhaps he'd dig someone from "Teen Wolf?" Look at us playing matchmaker!

(Depending on where you work, you may want to keep your headphones on for this...)
