Last year, with a commitment to be more patient, Jenna Hamilton learned that every once in a while, time can be on your side. On tonight’s “Awkward,” however, it seemed like it could never be less so. In a series of disastrous events, Jake found out about Jenna’s past with Matty, dumped her and then stumbled upon her kissing his best friend in a moment of weakness. Not much coming back from that.
When Jake told Jenna their relationship was over at Aunt Ally’s wedding, the suddenness and seeming irrationality of the breakup left her tear-stained. She had finally expressed how strongly her feelings for Jake lay, but in an instant, they meant nothing. Jake wouldn’t explain what she’d done wrong, and when he sped off in his convertible, Jenna felt numb.
Later, around the time Matty stopped by Jenna’s to comfort her, Jake listened to Jenna’s “I Love You” voice mail and considered that he’d acted too recklessly. He stopped by Jenna’s to patch things up, but by the time he arrived at the Hamilton household, his suspicions that his best friend and his girlfriend were still together appeared to be true. After strolling down memory lane, Jenna’s and Matty’s lips connected, and neither of them noticed Jake standing at the patio door, crestfallen.
+ Was Jenna and Matty’s kiss just a slip-up, and should she still fight for Jake? Or does everything happen for a reason (the reason being that Jenna and Matty absolutely belong together)? Time to declare your allegiance!
