Catelynn's relationship with her mom might best be described as erratic--any type of long-range forecast would be useless. April's mood depends on the hour, and Cate gave up trying to control the crazy long ago. With space and time, communication between the two has improved some, but years back, when Catelynn lived at home, screaming matches took place at the drop of a hat.
We all saw how April and her husband, Butch, criticized Cate and Tyler for their decision to make an adoption plan for Carly, but it was only one issue that tore up the family around that time. In addition to the omnipresent undercurrent of drug and alcohol abuse within the home, Catelynn's education was a topic of contention. According to her, April didn't want her to return to high school after giving birth. "There was a point in life--the cameras never even captured it--that I was pregnant, living at home, and I had to babysit my brother, so I had to quit going to school for four months," she shares with her cast mates in the below "Teen Mom After Show" clip. "And then I asked my mom, 'Can I go back to school?' and she got all mad at me." While the girls ponder the absurdity of the situation, Cate rejoices in the fact that she made it through the worst of the worst and she's now on her way to graduating from college. Take a look:
