Don't let the tender moment pictured above fool you-- brothers Phil and Bob Soven are hardly each other's shoulders to lean on. The two world-class wakeboarders have a better shot at in-house warfare (oh yeah...did we mention they're roommates, too?) than ever seeing eye-to-eye, and while Phil bests his sibling by a notch or two in the prowake rankings at the moment, we imagine their new MTV series, "WakeBrothers," will amount to a no-holds-barred battle for the top spot when it premieres on July 25.
So that you have a little bit of background info when the show dives right into the rivalry later this month, check out the basics on both Phil and Bob below, and tell us if you've got a favorite this early. Team Phil? Team Bob? Either way, we can probably all declare ourselves loyal to the latter's hair.
Phil: The more serious of the two, Phil is standing tall atop the prowake rankings at 23 years old. At this point in this career, he's the subject of endorsement deals, the owner of his own dream mansion complete with private lake access and, of course, the admiration of many lovely ladies. Known as "Ice Man" by his fellow competitors, will Phil's stoic focus keep him hovering high in the standings, or will he come crashing down without the release his brother's free spirit provides?
Bob: Three years Phil's junior, Bob and his signature tomato locks march to the beat of a yet-unheard-of drum. The mold-breaker is sitting pretty as the number three prowake, but as long as he's pleasing his fans and keeping his friends laughing, spot #100 would probably leave him satisfied (not that six world titles are anything to sneeze at...). Bob's "Ginger Mayhem" has gotten him this far, but does he have the discipline to reach up and nab those last two spots...and knock his brother on his ass?
+ Tell us what you think of this odd couple, and make sure to tune in July 25 at 11/10c to see just how big of a splash they can make.
