"You are nothing but a sweetheart," Trey told Laura toward the end of tonight's "Real World: St. Thomas" episode. "But sometimes, I don't want a sweetheart." Ouch. Without context, the words could have very well come from the mouth of someone who was ready to sever a tie, but Trey didn't want to wash his hands of Laura completely--just urge her to tone things down a bit. The question is: did she need to?
During a heated discussion that followed Trey's reprimanding of the redhead for tickling him, he confessed that sometimes, because of abandonment issues he'd faced in the past, he didn't believe he was ready for love, and rejected those who offered it. All the while, Laura--who was completely caught off guard--simply thought her subtle pokes and little kisses were acts of flirting, and was near tears when her housemate made judgments on her character, particularly when the two had just spent the night making out. Laura hadn't hidden her crush on Trey by any means, but she also mentioned it was never her intention to declare her undying devotion or pressure him into a relationship.
