We started tonight's "Teen Wolf" episode having barely any clue what to call that terrifying lizard-like creature, but eventually we learned some valuable information: it carries paralytic toxins. When Stiles accidentally touched a doorknob covered in its thick venom, he fell helplessly to the ground, and just when it seemed his death was imminent, the monster gave the BHHS student a second chance at life, as well as a good, close look into its eyes. Stiles may not have recognized the thing's stare, but his gut said that it knew him.
Later, Derek saw the way the beast responded to its own reflection in a broken mirror and finally realized what they were dealing with: a Kanima, some type of shape-shifter plagued in incomprehensible, dark ways. The identity of the killer beast remained rather fuzzy, but there were definitely some signs that pointed to Lydia--the scene where she woke up with a bloody hand and shattered vanity mirror, for instance.
