During tonight's episode of "16 and Pregnant," we met Virginia-native Devon, a young woman with tons of friends, as well as a hard-working boyfriend named Colin. He was four years her senior, and roughly eight months after they started dating, they found out she was pregnant. Devon was still in high school, so supporting their new family fell entirely on Colin's shoulders (he worked full-time as a warehouse manager and was part of the Army Reserve). Even though they cut down on expenses by living at Devon's mother's packed house, Colin's desire to use his earnings to purchase a home intensified after his son was born. Space was tight and they were excited by the idea of having more privacy.
After some promising house hunting, Colin was unfortunately laid off by the warehouse and the couple was forced to put their relocation plans on hold. The new parents were both understandably frustrated, but Devon seemed particularly unenthusiastic when Colin returned home after a day of job searching to say he was considering a career change. Becoming a firefighter would take lots of time and studying, though, and Devon was more focused on improving their current financial state--asap.
