May is Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and today is The National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Of course, every day should be about preventing pregnancy until you’re really ready to take on the full-time job of being a parent, but please take a little extra time now to think about the consequences, and check out the below video of “16 and Pregnant” moms Mackenzie, Katie, Lindsey and Briana giving out some advice on the subject.
Most teens never think it could happen to them, so it’s important to be proactive and make a plan for staying pregnancy-free. Here are some examples:
— If you’re sexually active, think about your contraception options. What kind of protection will you use? Do you know how it works, where to get it and how to use it properly? Learn about the pill, patch, ring, shot, IUD and others.
— Tweet thoughts and questions about the topic using the #ND12 hashtag.
— Remember that it takes two to get pregnant, but only one to prevent it–and be that one.
