Word on the streets of NYC is that after Pauly D finished his marvelous set at Tuesday's "Jersey Shore Soundtrack" Party, the cast went downtown to hipster hot spot The Eldridge and met a little opposition. According to the New York Post, Pauly D was pulled aside and told that fist-pumping wouldn't be tolerated inside the dimly lit lounge. While it's totally offensive (they should be able to beat the beat anywhere they want to!), we also think it's kinda funny that the "Jersey Shore" gang went down to the Lower East Side, which is a mecca for skinny jeans, unkempt beards and serious cowlicks. (Next we're going to read that the crew is buying fixed-gear bikes and hand-knit ponchos in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!)
+ We appreciate all sorts of fashion, but the "Jersey Shore" style and hipster look are very, very different. Check out the photos above (that's downtown Manhattan hottie Jay Lyon from the first season of "The City" on the right), read our contrasting notes below, then take the poll and tell us whose style you like better.
On Hair
The hipster almost always has his hand buried in his crown of shaggy tendrils. You'll most likely catch him scratching his head to think. The "Shore" guy spends countless minutes perfecting his 'do in order to withstand the weight of, well, anything.
On Shoes
The hipster has a variety of shoes in his closet, but they're almost always tattered and dirty. Some notable pairs may include vegetable-dyed Chucks or slip-on Toms, but check for the holes -- they're almost always present. "Shore" boys love their athletic sneakers, namely Air Force Ones.
On Pants
A hipster's jeans have two key distinctions: length and (barely existent) leg-width. Shorers wear big, baggy denim to give their junk some breathing room.
