Remote Control's coverage of tonight's series finale is being brought to you straight from the party scene, starting at 7:30 p.m. with red carpet updates from Lo Bosworth. The longtime "Laguna Beach"/"Hills" star turned internet self-starter will deliver all the happs from The Roosevelt Hotel -- but before then, check out our interview with Lo, where she dishes on her new website, her career plans post reality TV fame and how she stayed so levelheaded amid all the "Hills" drama.
RC: What inspired you to create The Lo Down?
Lo Bosworth: I joined Twitter over a year ago and was so thrilled at how it allowed me to connect to viewers, fans and friends. I especially noticed a huge response when I shared makeup tips and my day-to-day schedule, and asked questions of my followers. I was inspired to create The Lo Down because of the fans -- plain and simple. Their response to what I put out there is heartwarming, and I’m thrilled to be able to take my relationship [with them] to an even higher level with the website.
RC: Who is your target audience and what do you want to provide them in terms of tips and information?
Lo Bosworth: My target audience is girls around my age. "College-aged" with a little wiggle room in both directions. We are going to talk about relationships, style, health and fitness, beauty and life in general (think hotel and restaurant reviews, and an inside look at our readers).
RC: You’ve always been so levelheaded on "The Hills," giving great advice to the cast members. Why do you think you're able to resist getting caught up in the drama more so than the others?
Lo Bosworth: I saw the big picture, and for me, "The Hills" was never my ultimate job. I wanted different things from life, and because of that I always approached my role in the show carefully, as if I were an outsider.
RC: What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten, and who was it from?
Lo Bosworth: I get great advice from both my dad and my boyfriend. My dad has taught me to always have a plan, and my boyfriend has taught me how to get it done.
RC: What advice do you have for "Hills" fans who will be in serious withdrawal of the show?
Lo Bosworth: Create your own version of the show! Make parodies, watch the reruns. I felt the same way when "Sex and the City" ended. I own the DVDs and have seen each and every episode at least 15 times.
RC: How do you think being on "Laguna" and "The Hills" has lent a hand in developing your career ambitions and success?
Lo Bosworth: Well, clearly being able to work in this industry gives anyone on our show a head start with their future endeavors. The exposure alone lends others to talk about you, and fuel your fire (whatever it is). The extreme luck granted to me years ago has been replaced with hard work, and it makes a world of difference.
RC: What are some of your other career plans for the future?
Lo Bosworth: So, my favorite project right now is obviously thelodown.com. I’m putting my heart, soul and hours of work into it every day. I absolutely love to write creatively, and the fact that it's on my own terms is exciting. I have a relationship guide for girls coming out in January, also entitled "The Lo Down." As far as TV goes, I’m transitioning into hosting immediately coming off "The Hills." I have a particular project in development right now with an outstanding production company, and I’m hoping to make an announcement regarding the project soon.
