Ryan may have platonically kissed and made up with Preston after pretty much insulting the entire gay population, but he did a handful of really eccentric things that make trying to form a clear-cut opinion about him difficult for us (don't you hate when you can't just compartmentalize someone easily?). Here are some of the contradictory happs and oddball ways in which the "Real World: New Orleans" hairstylist behaved on tonight's premiere of "RW: NOLA."

WHOA, HE'S HYPER
Personally, we feed off of energetic people, but Ryan is a whole 'nother breed: He speaks fast, moves fast and makes decisions even faster. When he decided that he didn't want to room with "the meathead," he sprinted up and down the stairs, bartered deals with Ashlee, promised the occasional spoon with Knight and gloated about his wingman skills to Eric. All that just to get a different roommate?

COOL, HE'S PATERNAL (OR IS IT MATERNAL?)
Preston identified himself as the Mother Hen of the house, but it was Ryan who sent out the search-and-rescue party when McKenzie went missing (for like two seconds) on Bourbon Street. He seemed like a good guy that just wanted to make sure everyone was safe. Bonus points, right? Well ...

IS HE STUCK IN THE PAST?
Not that we don't whine about our past relationships, but Ryan referenced his ex-girlfriend at least twice, blaming her for his addiction to Xanax and revealing how she crushed his heart. This makes us wonder whether he's the kinda guy that can't let go of his past or if he's just a lovable softie that doesn't believe in masking emotion. Time will tell!

UH OH, IS THAT JEALOUSY WE SMELL?
On their first night out, McKenzie did what everyone else was doing and flirted with the other bar patrons, but Ryan wasn't having it. He swarmed around the fellas, pouted and then decided he wanted to leave altogether. Later, he spotted 'Kenzie chatting up another dude and told her she was a waste of time. Seemed like he overreacted a bit here, no?

+ Do you think Ryan was hard to read or have you got him all figured out? Sound off in the comments and fill us in, then check out these exclusive bonus videos, where Eric, Jemmye, Preston and Knight weigh in on his behavior.

If you were craving some messy drama, then tonight's "Real World: New Orleans" premiere did not disappoint! From the moment the eight newbies waltzed into their beautiful digs, the drinks started flowing and the debauchery began (who cares that it was a Wednesday?). They body-rolled at bars, flirted with all of Louisiana and (presumably) decided which roomie they wanted to pound one out with (ha, we're in a "Jersey Shore" frame of mind today). So, since there was a lot of eyelash batting going on, we figured we should at least try and make some predictions on what might come out of it.

Before Jemmye did the tootsie roll with Knight and his crotch, he announced that he was smitten with McKenzie's bootie. But it was mega-softie Ryan who got all territorial with 'Kenzie (in his defense, she did give him the go-ahead by saying he could play with her hair. Sexual advances don't get any more direct than that!). Super-flirty Eric also noticed 'Kenzie's bod, but hey, his pretty green eyes followed every girl in the house (especially Sahar), so banking on him seems a bit like cheating. And then of course there was sweet Preston, the self-appointed "spatula" (cuz he flips straight guys gay) who wanted to play with Ryan's skinny bones.

+ Were you able to properly assess all of the sexual energy? Who do you think will be the first twosome to jump into bed together? Take the poll and make your hookup predictions!

Love the styles you see on "The City"? Well, we've teamed up with our fashionable friends at ELLE.com to bring you a weekly guide to getting the latest episode's looks. Check out our new installment!

Louise Roe may have been stealing Olivia Palermo's shine lately, but with the Brit's absence on last night's episode of "The City," 'Liv made sure her own presence was known. She selected the popular Prabal Gurung outfit for the "Martha Stewart Show," then pulled off an intricate white dress from the same designer at a benefit that night. Even ELLE's editor in chief seemed impressed! But it was Olivia's laid-back Western-inspired office look that we truly fell in love with. Go to ELLE.com to get this country, plaid-happy style!

At the end of last season's "Fantasy Factory," Rob Dyrdek didn't have glowing reviews for his rappin' receptionist Chanel. In his final evaluation, he concluded that she's hilarious, punctual and additively off the wall, but as an office assistant, she's pretty much, um, useless. Well, we say, good for her! After all, Chanel's been focused on other projects, like pursuing her passion for music!

Check out the exclusive videos below, where Chanel drops a few more rhymes and updates us on her career. Currently, she's spending time in the studio with huge industry producers, so it's probably only a matter of time before there's a new single being blasted through the Fantasy Factory's speakers.

You know when you have your heart set on something and it doesn't quite pan out, but you find out later that there's an alternate scenario that's almost just as good? Well, for "The Hills" fans that were completely crushed when we told them Lauren Conrad wasn't returning for the last season, we have a second bit of news that might slap a smile back onto your face: Lauren IS coming back to celebrate the series' finale.

If you missed last night's "After Show," hosts Jessi and Dan revealed that the original Hillzie will be present at the finale's "After Show," which airs in two weeks. Apparently, she'll join the entire cast -- even Whitney Port, who tweeted about her excitement -- for one last brouhaha. (The entire cast, really? Even these two?)

On last night's episode of "Downtown Girls," Shallon rallied her gal pals to go beyond the walls of Manhattan and venture out into the unknown. So where did they end up? The Jersey Shore, a playground of techno beats and barbwire tattoos. Unfortch, not everyone made the trip -- Gurj was spending time with her boyfriend, and Klo was busy sifting through cheesy bridesmaids gifts for her all-consuming wedding.

Check out this bonus video below, where the three vacationing single ladies dissect Gurj and Klo's romantic lives. Apparently, there are just some things that Shallon won't stand for in a relationship, like being a housewife or giving up her career. Always good to be cognizant of your deal breakers, like Liz Lemon on "30 Rock."

So ... we've been hearing for months from the "Jersey Shore" fam how wild things got in Miami, but we never expected to see the kind of wacked-out, alcohol/adrenaline-fueled drama that's spotlighted in this new Season 2 trailer. (On second thought, nothing's truly shocking when this cast of characters is involved.) Among the black hole of debauchery: It's revealed that 1) Don Juan Vinny is packin' some serious inches below his belt 2) fame doesn't come with a no-grenade guarantee and 3) Sammi the Sweetheart certainly knows how to throw down when the situation calls for it. Also, some sad, unexpected news: The duck phone has been replaced. Whaaa! Check out this two-minute look at how the "Jersey Shore" cast represents down in Florida come July 29.

We're having a really hard time believing our own headline. Not that the bilingual, lip ornament-sporting bartender wasn't a Costa Rican cutie, but it was totally obvs that on last night's episode of "The Hills" Kristin went after Will to make Brody jealous! Plus, she got puppy dog sad after Brody said she was just a sister to him, so the evidence is kinda stacked against her.

Check out the clip from the "After Show" below, where K-Cav says that smooching her Central American fling was NOT a sly move to get under Brody's skin. It just never crossed her mind. Do you buy it?

You've been telling Whitney Port to strengthen her backbone ever since the DVF days. (Forgotten already? Long before Olivia Palermo was ruining Erin Kaplan's life at ELLE, she was thumbing her nose down at the "City" neophyte.) Well, apparently Whit took your advice to heart ... but did she get ballsy with the wrong person?

On tonight's episode, the ambitious young designer tore into Roxy for failing to get a grunge-inspired rock star to wear a beautifully tailored Whitney Eve blazer for more than 5 secs on stage. The stage of a hot concert hall jam-packed with ripped-tee-wearing teens. Talk about a doomed job assignment!

We get that Whit didn't see how hard Roxy worked to put LIGHTS in that damn blazer, and we really love that she's finally standing up for herself -- we're just not so sure she picked the right battle to launch the new 'tude. Rox really tried her bestest!

+ Are you a fan of this badass-ish Whitney, or do you rue the day you ever suggested she should grow a pair? Sound off in the comments!

Oh, fashion. You routinely rear your good-looking head and remind us about all of the stilettos, totes and outerwear we need to buy to be your friend. (Are we even friends? Sure feels like a one-way relationship here, financially speaking.)

While we have this often unrequited love with style, we can't help but recognize when -- and we hardly put trends on the spot like this -- an editor-recommended look is just too outrageous for words. Unflattering harem pants are something we can work with, but hard-to-remove (see ankle shackles, above left) electric-blue tuxedo trousers are just too funky for us to freak with … Well, on second thought, the shackles are more like bow-ties, which now that we think about it are kind of cute-slash-amazing. Look at the way the fabric cinches around the ankle ... Okaaay, fine! ELLE loves 'em, and so do we.

+ We might be fickle fashionistas, but what about you? Would you wear the Prabal Gurung pants that Olivia Palermo selected on tonight's episode of "The City?" Take the poll and sound off.
