Abortion can be a tough thing to talk about. It's been a controversial issue for ages and often incites frustration and anger among the people who take part in the discussion. But we'd be remiss if we avoided the topic while airing a show called 16 and Pregnant.
Have you noticed that not one of the teen girls in this series has opted for abortion, much less seriously considered it upon finding out that she was pregnant? The decision has consistently remained between two alternatives: keep the baby or make an adoption plan.
Do not misunderstand: We're not expressing any judgment. Our purpose for writing this post is to point out that termination of pregnancy as a possible outcome has been spoken about very little so far on 16 and Pregnant, and we'd like to hear whether or not you're surprised.
Plenty of teens choose abortion — statistics say 30 percent — so why do you think it's a choice often associated with so much shame? Where do your opinions lie? Join the dialogue by taking the poll and sounding off in the comments section. (Please try to be respectful of other people's opinions.)
