Adam wrote "She's The Brave One" as a tribute to his grandmother, and when he sang it at the singer-songwriter showcase tonight on Taking the Stage, there wasn't a dry eye left in the auditorium. Now, watch him perform the beautiful ballad one more time and explain why his biggest inspirations (besides Garth Brooks) are his family and friends. Bonus: After the jump, check out the full lyrics to Adam's acoustic masterpiece, "She's The Brave One." We double DARE you not to cry.
She's The Brave One
Wakes up at 5am
Puts on that smile again
She has to go back to the city
The doctors know her face
It's the same familiar place
She sees every other week
She doesnt complain a bit
When she gets so sick
She can't even eat
She lays down at night
And closes her eyes
And she prays
[Chorus]
God, will you please help me?
I dont know how long i can do this
Lord, I'm thankful for this time you've given me
But I know, soon I'll have to go
She's the brave one [yeah, mmm]
Even though she has no hair
She really doesn't care
She goes out anyway
She loves to laugh and smile
Even just for a little while
When she's feeling good
But drive her there one more time
See the sadness in her eyes
She looks out the window
She's barely hanging on
She cries
[Chorus]
[Hook]
Oh I'm down on my knees
I cant let you go
God, I love her so
What would I do without you?
She cries
[Chorus]
Oh shes stronger than she'll ever know
Shes the brave one [x 3]
