Throughout this season of Styl'D, the junior assistants will be watching each episode and blogging about their reactions. Below, check out Gary's first post...
So, a quick disclaimer … I’m a little scatterbrained, as you can see from the first episode. Let's just say there's a constant and consistent flow of things going on in my head. (Right now, I’m seriously thinking about how I need to hang the art in my kitchen). You can expect a lot of this in my blogging, so stick close, grab a diet soda of your choice and get ready for the nitty-gritty!
PASSION: Live it, love it, be it. There is one thing for all of us that makes us feel most alive, that makes us thrive -- it’s that one thing that when you're living it, you are at your happiest. My passion is styling. I've been styling from the time I was five years old, from putting outfits together for my mom straight out of her closet to dressing my girlfriends for high school social activities. Let’s be serious, what wouldn’t I love about what I do? By creating new, innovative and chic ways to wear clothes, I'm fully able to express my current state of mind. I only have one rule, and it's simple: KIP KIS -- "Keep it pretty, and keep it simple."
OK, now on to Episode 1 of Styl'D.
First thing's first: I think Janna needs to cut her hair into a bob and dye it red, with some side-swept bangs ... not too heavy, just enough to kiss her face. It will give her a whole new ‘tude. And while we're on the subject of Janna, I would like to set the record straight. I have never, and would never take credit for anyone’s pulls or fashion styling. So NO, I did not steal that silver dress from Janna for the Kim Kardashian job. Janna has a tendency to lie a bit!
Anywho, it was so much fun to dress Kim! This is Kim Kardasian we are talking about … one of the most beautiful, sophisticated sex symbols of our day, and I'm the lucky guy who got to pick out what she wore! This was a huge opportunity, especially for a junior assistant. For Jen to call me out on my setiquette was very embarrassing. I mean, I know that I can be a little talkative, but that’s because I'm working. Ideas and visions burst in my brain when I'm working. I'm flowing! Sorry about that. The fact that it affected my ranking during week one was enough for me to change my ways. I knew that I really needed to start being more professional.
I think that MTV did a great job in portraying us in our truest state. I mean, I don’t want to admit it's true, but I guess I really do stand with a limp wrist. And about the six sprays of cologne … yeesh, I worry about myself, but whatever… to each his own.
I have to say, I love everyone on the show. I think they're all so different and uniquely talented. We all have our strong points, and I think that throughout the show you will see that. One thing is for certain: we all have a passion for what we do. Stick around to see more!
P.S. Just so you know, seeing myself on television was a lot to handle. As I wrote this blog, I was emotionally eating literally everything in my house.
