Being a teen mom isn't easy, but for Maci, it's all worth it when she gets to go home to Bentley's smiling face. And while her relationship with Ryan's still a work in progress, Maci doing everything she can to keep the family together. Hear how Maci spent her first summer as a mom, and why she says nothing's more important than her son's happiness.
Life has been a complete roller coaster since the Life at Labor reunion show. When you're a teen mom things change from day to day, and you NEVER know what to expect. My first summer with Bentley was amazing, and everyday I grow so much closer to him. School has started back again and juggling everything exhausts me, but I don't let anything conquer me. Ryan and I struggle every day to keep everything together, but we just take it one step at a time.
Being a mom has so many things to offer a woman. I love being so exhausted and overwhelmed, and at the end of the day, the things that overwhelm me the most also put everything in me at ease. Looking at Bentley's beautiful face after a long hard day of school, work, and play can relax me at any moment. Love, worry, and fear never had true meanings in my life until I became a mother.
But being a parent brings unheard-of challenges that you never expect to face until you're in the situation. The biggest challenge so far is being a good parent, and making all the hard things seem easier. The best way to describe it is to say that it's easy to be a bad parent, and the hardest thing in the world to be a great parent.
It is impossible to describe the relationship I have with Ryan. It's complicated. We have definitely been through a lot together, and it's only the beginning. I would love for our relationship to go a certain
way over time, but I can only try and hope for the best. I only want the best for Bentley, and after that comes myself and Ryan. A child is happy when his/her parents are happy. It is hard to make everyone happy. I just take it day by day, and stay true to my heart. "Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same."
