Diddy and the judges didn't think they could make her a star, but Marissa's not letting their dis get the better of her. In fact, she's been doing just fine steering her own course to music fame. Check out Marissa's update below...
Wow! What an experience. I don’t have any regrets about being on P. Diddy's Starmaker, except for that I wish I'd had more time to spend with the amazing cast and crew!
Do I think the judges made a mistake by letting me go so early? There are no mistakes. I believe that when one door closes, another one opens -- and in my case, this really held true...
I’m currently writing and recording with award-winning producers Andrew Lane and Loren Israel. I’ve been able to co-write songs with Tom Higgenson from Plain White T’s and Tim Pagnotta of Sugarcult. I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to showcase my songwriting talents for Lady Gaga and The Clique Girlz on Interscope Records, while also pursuing my acting career.
Since Starmaker, I’ve worked with The Foundation for Burns and Trauma’s Camp Courage. Camp Courage helps burn survivors through treatment and rehabilitation. A burn survivor myself, I feel that Starmaker has provided me with the opportunity to be a role model for these amazing kids! I’m donating 100 percent of the iTunes proceeds from my song “Follow Your Dreams” to the camp. Visit my website to download the song!
Being a part of a talented group of singers was a learning experience I’ll never forget. I was one of the top six girls in a nationwide search and handpicked by P.Diddy and Mark Burnett. What an honor! Thank you to all the fans, friends and family that continue to support me on my journey. Like Diddy said, “Can’t nobody take my pride. Can’t nobody hold me down … Oh no, I got to keep on mooooovin!”
Big Kiss,
