The way Detox works, we get screeners of all the shows a couple of days in advance so that we have time to write, shoot and edit our recap. Occasionally, due to the fast turnaround of some MTV productions, we'll only get a rough cut of an episode and won't see the final air version until hours before it premieres.
Over the past few weeks, we've had a few instances where a great bit had to get cut last minute because the final episode dropped a scene or altered the version we wrote to. (This happens especially with The City. Those guys are editing Whitney's life down to the last possible minute.)
But we've never had an instance like tonight's Girls of Hedsor Hall. When the premiere arrived today, we almost fainted it was so different from the one we based our script on. Normally we would just re-shoot real quick and make adjustments, but this week our set had to be moved to another location (that's why it looks slightly different), AND I lost my voice over the weekend. So anything we re-shot wouldn't match up!
Luckily, one of our awesome writers, Amanda Nelson, troubleshooted the situation and whipped up a great solution... (Now if only I could get my voice back!)
