In a few short weeks, Paris Hilton's new reality show (Paris Hilton's My New BFF) kicks off, giving the heiress a chance to grab the spotlight while scouring the universe for the world's most perfect bestie. And since we have this thing about helping others (totally selfless, we know!) we figured we'd do her prospective amigos a public service by publishing a postmortem on Paris' gal pals of yesteryear. Read on to find out how hanging with Paris altered the course of their lives forever...
Nicole Richie: Although Nicole and Paris were once inseparable, the two girls had a major falling out back in 2005, though the reason for the split was never fully explained. Fortunately, their bond was subsequently renewed on a climactic episode of The Simple Life, and cemented when Nicole/Paris discovered the joys of double-dating the Madden brothers. Apart from Paris, Nicole is best known for her oversized sunglasses and microscopic waistline, her love-hate relationship with celebrity stylist/human bobblehead Rachel Zoe and her impossibly cute baby girl, Harlow.
Kim Kardashian: Once the closest of friends, Paris and Kim went from being joined at the hip to refusing to stand within 150 yards of each other. Since then, Kim has established herself as a bona fide reality star, appearing in such tv shows as Keeping Up with the Kardashians (And, coming soon, Dancing With The Stars!) and such classic films as Getting It On With Brandy's Brother. Although widely regarded as Paris' former clinger-on, Kim is best known for her plus-sized derriere, her spread in Playboy and her status as Brody Jenner's stepsister.
Britney Spears: Paris and Britney's friendship was brief, yet memorable. Their friendship consisted primarily of going to paparazzi-infested nightclubs, riding around in limos and accidentally-on-purpose forgetting to wear underwear. Post-Paris, Britney made headlines by shaving her head, losing custody to an out-of-work dancer and forgetting her choreography at the 2007 VMAs. Since then, however, Brit's turned over a new leaf. At last week's 2008 VMAs, she was a vision in Versace, taking home 3 awards, and posing with her old pal Paris on the red carpet.
Kimberly Stewart: To be honest, we're not entirely sure what happened to Kimberly Stewart. But then again, we're still not convinced she was ever famous in the first place. True, her dad is 80's crooner Rod Stewart, which makes her moderate rock royalty. But aside from her friendship with Paris, the girl is best known as a perpetually tan boozehound, whose former breast implants can currently be found hanging on Jack Osbourne's wall. So where is she now? We don't know, but we're thinking you may want to start by checking the bathroom floor at Bungalow 8.
Lindsay Lohan: In retrospect, these two girls were more like frenemies than best buds. They partied occasionally, fought constantly (generally over dorky-but-rich Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos) and introduced the term "Firecrotch" into the cultural lexicon. Since parting ways from Paris, Lindsay has ditched the drugs, starred in a slew of crappy films and established herself as the hottest maybe-lesbian since Katy Perry. She's also the reigning Spray Tan Queen of the Northern Hemisphere -- with the possible exception of Kimberly Stewart.
