We love the Hills girls, but let's face it: sometimes they can be relationship illiterate. What did Lauren ever see in that Jason "The Heartbreaker" Wahler? Why does Audrina continue to let Justin Bobby toy with her emotions? Male Hills viewers (yes, you know who you are!) are often just as perplexed by the dating mishaps and romantic blunders we see each week, so a handful of them have agreed to step up during Season 4 with some tough love suggestions to get these girls in check...
Conundrum: Lauren is very busy trying to get Lo to socialize at Audrina's party. She inadvertently ends up ignoring her new man (who has been generously grilling for all the guests). See video clip above for a refresher.
Question: Doug looks sorta sad. Should LC have paid more attention to him throughout the day?
"If some guy showed up to a party at my crib in a Lakers jersey, he’d wish I’d only ignored him. But what do I know? At the end of the segment, Lauren confides in another dude wearing a Lakers jersey. Apparently it's OK to show up for a pool party at a really nice house dressed like the losing team." --Nate
"I don't think Lauren wanted to pay more attention to Doug at the party. The girl drama was just an excuse -- if she had been enjoying herself at the part,y Lo's absence wouldn't have been that important; not to mention she ignored Audrina (again) for Lo by getting all stressed out. Lauren really just wants an accessory. In this case she got 'Dougie' over to cook the meat (because he's "a guy's guy"), and when she's not playing hostess, she's got a lap to sit on and someone to call her pretty. If Lauren really wanted to spend more time with Doug she would have gone to him to complain about Lo and Audrina, not Frankie. In Lauren's defense though, are you really going to seek advice from a pretty-boy with a circa 2004 faux-hawk? Probs not." --Charles
"Stuff like this happens with the Hills girls all the time (Lauren especially), and as a guy, Doug should have been prepared to be blown off for all sorts of other drama. The smooth play would have been to make Lauren feel guilty about ignoring him in order to get another date." --Brandon, (aka "Team Spencer")
"Doug probably knew no one besides Lauren and Lo at that party. Clearly he was trying to make good with Lauren by throwing on an apron and becoming Grillmaster for a hungry crowd of 75 people (double that to 150 if you count the Hills crew). I think it’s a natural inclination for anyone who feels uncomfortable in a house party setting to start ‘tasking.’ To that end, he could have gone in the kitchen and helped some more if he wanted to spend more time with Lauren." --Travis
