Season 1 was great, Season 2 was greater! So what can we expect from Season 3? Much like the stock market, it's possible for talent to take a dip, but Shane, Layla and the crew alumni are hopeful that the bar will be raised once again. We caught up with all of them after today's Battle for the VMAs -- listen up as they donate their two cents about what's to come in January when ABDC Season 3 kicks off!
As the song says, "Anything you can do, I can do better." And that's the kind of competition we saw go down during today's Battle of the VMA'. Watch this amazing highlight from Kaba Modern's performance:
Catch more highlights here and check out this behind-the-scenes video of each crew backstage before showtime. Stick around till the end to hear Chris from JabbaWockeeZ explain how it's possible to be in two places at once... like, in the audience at each episode of ABDC Season 2 and with the Jabbas on their world tour. Personally, I just think he's magic. There, I said it.
Yesterday, The Hills' resident musician Heidi Montag issued an apology for all the technical difficulties surrounding her aerobically-themed new dance vid, "Overdosin." Fortunately, today we've got the video in all its glory! Plus one or two minor DVD extras...in the form of The Soup host Joel McCale and his secret love tattoos.
• But don't look to PopEater for the latest Speidi update. The site may be on the verge of abolishing all Spencer/Heidi-related news coverage. The horror! (Best Week Ever)
• Meanwhile, Blake Lively turns forgetting-to-wear-pants into a fashion statement. (Scandalist)
• And loose-lipped Gossip Girl producers spill the beans about Blair's new man and Jenny's evil plans for world domination. (People)
Has the world gone mad?? Yesterday, we were horrified by reports that our darling Whitney may be moving to the Big Apple, and now comes word that Spencer and Heidi are planning to open an "upscale sports lounge." Yep, supposedly Spencer was spotted scouting out real estate in Murray Hill, the NYC 'hood (spanning the East 30's) known for its overabundance of Indian takeout joints and overgrown frat boys.
Seriously, what is up with all these East Coast Hills rumors? First Whitney, now Speidi...what's next??
Anyone feel like starting a juicy rumor about Audrina? Because we TOTALLY hear she's moving out of LC's luxe Hollywood Hills pad and taking a crappy waitressing job at a local New Jersey Houlihan's...
Tomorrow's not just another chance to dance -- there's much more on the line for the crews involved. The winner of the Battle for the VMAs (1pm EST) will get the honor of donating $25,000 to a charity of their choice. Not bad considering some of these crews came from nothing and now have the opportunity to give back to their community however they see fit. Watch the video to hear from some of your favorite dancers -- Kaba Modern, Status Quo, SoReal Cru -- about what's in store!
Get ready for a new crew everybody -- SuperWockeeZ are in the house! Tomorrow's ABDC bonus show (1pm EST) opens with a crazy dance number set to a remixed version of "We Are The Champions," featuring none other than Super Cr3w and your beloved Season 1 winners, JabbaWockeeZ. Judge Shane Sparks choreographed the routine, so we're all in for a master performance.
Off camera, the fellas from JabbaWockeeZ told me to "watch out for SuperWockeeZ on tour this summer." As most of you are well aware, Jabba and Super go way further back than ABDC -- and that said, they warned us to look out for an ALL-GIRL version of their crew making it to Season 3. Sweet, but can their abs match up?
We already know you love this week's dueling Lauren/Heidi TV Guide covers. So what about what's on the inside of the mag? As always, the Hills cast has no problem speaking their minds. Even if that means rehashing all the domestic drama, sibling squabbles and revolving door romances. Meanwhile, here's a few choice quotes for those of you who (inexplicably!) have yet to hit up the nearest newsstand:
Lo defends her role in the Audrina standoff! “I am friendly to Audrina and don’t feel like I’m getting the same in return," she says.
Spencer warns Lauren about getting too close to a Pratt. “I think LC is going to figure out what my sister is like," he cautions. "That she’s not a trustworthy person.”
And producers weigh in on the residual sparks between Lauren and her ex/best guy pal. "Lauren and Brody are always hanging out, and we never know what’s going to happen between them," admits the show's exec producer Adam DiVello. "Whenever they’re around each other, those two really light up.”
+ Think Lo's telling the truth? And just where do Stephanie Pratt's loyalties lie? Let us know, plus sound off on whether you think there's still hope for an LC/Brody reconciliation down the line.
In the tradition of America's Best Dance Crew, last night MTV premiered a "Casting Special" for its new competition, MTV's Top Pop Group. So how is it like ABDC if the show's mission is to find the next Black Eyed Peas? Let us count the ways...
** A big part of the competition will focus on how the groups can dance... while singing!
** Mario Lopez is still your dimply, happy-to-be-there host.
** America will vote for their favorite group each week, and ultimately, choose the winner.
** Three music industry vets will comment on the groups' performances each week.
** Guest stars will appear on the show to mentor the performers on specific challenges.
** The talent level is gonna blow you away.
Bailey Hanks may be an MTV reality show winner and a Broadway superstar, but at heart, she's still a sweet Southern gal (whose mother may or may not drive a pink VW bug.
Which is why she got the hero's welcome when she finally found time to pack her fuchsia-colored bags and head home to Anderson, South Carolina where she signed autographs, put on a one-woman Legally Blonde show and was presented with the keys to the city. (OMG, you guys!)
+ Haven't had a chance to see Bailey's name in black-and-white...in the Legally Blonde: The Musical program? It's time to get serious, and check her out! Or at least hear what she had to say after her first-ever curtain call.
