You've already read every last opinion I've got regarding Season 3 of The Hills... so I went ahead and asked a reputable group of other TV bloggers to add their thoughts on all the tears, train wrecks and temporary lapses in sanity. In celebration of the August 18 Season 4 premiere, I present you the first ever "Hills Blogger Forum". Here to comment on EPISODE 325: “A NEW ROOMMATE” are Phoebe Reilly from Spin, Lane Brown from New York Magazine, and 'Pop Culture' from I'm Bringing Blogging Back:
QUICK CLIFF'S NOTES
• Lauren starts working with Whitney (again) at People’s Revolution.
• Everyone goes to Club Goa. Heidi and Stephanie end up at the same table with Lauren and Lo, Audrina and Justin Bobby. Lauren storms off –- she “can’t pretend that it’s normal” to all be sitting together.
• Lauren and Lo decide to get a house together. Lauren wants Audrina to live with them, Lo seems hesitant.
• Audrina goes out on a date with Justin Bobby after not speaking to him in months. He likes her “leathers,” has a new do, and maybe even has a new outlook on life (ie. he stopped boozing).
• Lauren criticizes Audrina for going out with Justin Bobby (again), and for talking to Heidi (again).
• Heidi tries to vent to Spencer about LC not being friendly at Goa, but Spencer has no sympathy.
• Audrina says she’s interested in moving into the new house with Lauren and Lo, but there already seems to be tension between everyone.
LC and Whitney: Working 9 to 5
Pop Culture (IBBB): Finally! Lauren Conrad and Whitney are working together again, fighting crime, and awkwardly staring at each other during their high intensity work day.
Reilly (Spin): It’s impossible to believe that Whitney actually wants to work with Lauren again considering she brings nothing to the table beyond her trademark frowniness. LC can barely get through an hour of work without accusing yet another one of her friends/frenemies of disgracing her. I bet she thinks the owners of Club Goa should have to choose sides, too.
Brown (NYMag): It can definitely be seen as a positive that LC and Whitney will be working together again -- after all, if both of their pretend jobs are in the same office, there's one less media or fashion company whose productivity will suffer thanks to their blundering ineptitude. Plus, they both seem pretty excited about it.
Why Can't They All Just Get Along at Club Goa?
Pop Culture: Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief as the whole gang is together again like a reunion of 90210 at the Peach Pit. Heidi sits her tight little ass down next to Justin Bobby (J Bob) and somehow manages to find a connection with him. Hmmm, I bet since both are "musicians" on the side, they had a ton to talk about when the cameras weren't rolling. Regarding LC's storm off, ahem, set... we know, we know, sitting at a table with Heidi is too much handle for you. But if I were LC, I would have grabbed a spot right next to Heidi, and when she wasn't looking, well, I'll leave that up to your imagination.
Brown: It was a completely out of line for Lauren to storm out of the club. If the music was loud enough to necessitate subtitled dialogue, then it's probably unlikely Lauren could overhear any of the nasty things Heidi was saying about her, thus she easily could've ignored her being there. Lauren totally needs to get over her jealousy of Heidi and Spencer!
Justin Bobby Back in the Picture
Brown: I'm dubious that Justin Bobby has changed. Audrina claims he's "cleaned up" (not that it's apparent from his outward appearance), "stopped drinking for now" (unlikely), and "didn't burp once" on their date (actually, this is pretty impressive). It's obvious she still has feelings for him, though, and the heart wants what it wants — Lauren, of all people, should know that.
Reilly: With soon-to-be roomies like LC and Lo, no wonder that bozo Justin Bobby strikes Audrina as a decent person.
Is Spencer's 'Tude Justified?
Reilly: Spencer is a total jerk, but at least he tells it like it is.
Brown: Spencer gets a lot of bad press, but I'm really not sure why — he's good-looking, self-motivated, and a whip-smart businessman. As I recall, Heidi's the one who inexplicably dumped him, so she's not really in a position to complain about his attitude or behavior. She should just be thankful he doesn't know he can probably do better.
Three's a Crowd for LC, Lo and Audrina?
Reilly: Even though being friends with Lauren demands falling-on-a-sword levels of loyalty, Lo is obviously desperate to do so. Audrina is — and I can’t believe I’m going to say this — wise to be wary of moving in with them.
Stay tuned for next week's Hills Blogger Forum, in which we'll contemplate such questions as "Should LC own her own estate at age 21?" and "Could things ever really work between Lauren and Stephen?". In the meantime, sound off: Which blogga's comments do you agree with most?
