As previously stated, we here at MTV's Remote Control are desperate for a few reality TV terms to bite the dust. At the top of our list was "bromance," slang used to describe the close yet platonic relationships formed between men, especially those in Hollywood's VIP circles. For instance, George Clooney can often be spotted getting bromantic with Brad Pitt and/or Matt Damon.
Another popular bromance receiving rich media attention lately? Hills BFF's, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado. Yep, just as Goose played wingman to Tom Cruise's Maverick in Top Gun, Frankie Delgado bromances the stone with Brody Jenner every night of the week. And speaking of those two...
Looks like the term "bromance" won't be retired anytime soon -- as reported yesterday, Ryan Seacrest's production company, Delgado, and (our powerful and most appreciated employer) MTV are currently working on a reality TV show starring Brody Jenner as a bro in need of yet another bachelor to be part of his entourage. Aptly titled BROMANCE, the show will follow the quest of guys across the nation in search of the ultimate validation -- chill time in a hot tub with one of Hollywood's biggest playas.
So, will the word "bromance" jump the shark before the show even airs? Not if I'm still writing "jump the shark." A virtual race for respect via the right hair product, the right connections, and all the right moves, BROMANCE will deliver 6 episodes of full-fledged boy drama. Oh, brother.
