Ha, good ones. Especially the last one, very true. I’m not really afraid of deadlines, though, seeing as everyone on our paper pretty much completely ignores them. They all get most everything done within a week of printing…Oh well, we still get tons of awards, so I guess it works.

You remind me so much of myself in high school, from your running commentary to your quirky musical parodies, and especially being an editor (though I was the A&E editor - too busy with sports to be Editor in Chief) one of the best high school newspapers in Florida! If you’re reading this, just keep holding your head up high. You’re more mature than the people who aren’t inviting you to parties and who are swept up in the social scene that is high school. I hope you get into your choice college - you’ll find people there who will get you. Sure, you will find plenty of people who act as though they are still in high school, but you have more of a choice in who you live with and how you socialize.
As someone who is now hunting down her first journalism job, I can confidently tell you that all those skills you are learning in newspaper will shape you and stay with you forever. You will probably never have difficulties with time management, and will laugh when your friends freak out over finals since you learned how to manage people and produce a quality paper.

Aaaah! I love this! I am currently stressing out over a bunch of work I need to for school tomorrow!
I cannot miss an episode of the paper.
I am currently the Entertainment Editor in our school’s magazine but hopefully nexy trimester i’ll be editor in chief!!

I love this show. I’m Editor-in-Chief of the paper at my high school and everything you go through in the show just reminds me of what I’m going through. It is amazing that school papers are finally being recognized more positively.
And number 10 makes me laugh… so true!

Didn’t know where else to post this, so here it is. I like the show and the whole idea about bringing light to the high school newspaper which is often overlooked.
But there is a factual error in Adam’s statement about “no high school has ever done a 36 page paper.” In 2005, Omaha Central High School’s The Register won best-in-show at the JEA convention with a 40 page paper. In 2006, The Register put out a 52 that won first place (best-in-show) at the JEA competition in San Fran.
In 2007, the same school put out an 80 page speciality issue, with a 16 page section completely devoted to student health.
I was a part of these staffs, and just thought i’d point that out. But def. props for 32, because i truly know how hard journalism can be.

This is an awesome - and very true - list.
I love my semicolons. There is apparently a movement in France to eliminate the semicolon from usage. I would have a heart attack, so it’s a good thing I don’t live in France.

I love this list, some of them don’t apply to me but still their great all the same. I am not a newspaper person but I am on yearbook staff and we have a yearbook camp we go to over the summer and I can’t wait!!! The show rocks, keep making that paper.

Nice post. I hate fox news. I write news bulletins almost every other day. Bleh, I can’t stand it. I’m a project leader for Half-Life 2: Breaking Point, which we do fall apart at times. Maybe I could give you a suggestion…pull them all together for a meeting, not just a small portion of the group but everyone, lay down some rules/talk with your instructor, I’m in college so it stuck with me, so yeah talk with her, lay some ground rules, pwn, write, publish.
