“My dream was to record my music.”
Last week we watched as Kaya almost missed a gig and this week we watched her actually walk off stage when she refused to sing her sister’s song. This turned into a $90,000 fine for Kaya and the band, a slew of public apologizes and Kaya having to give up a little part of who she is by caving to the music industry execs.
Kaya’s childhood doesn’t seem to have gone really smoothly. She watched as her mom ran off after a huge fight with her dad and her sister died in what seems to be a car crash…
She’s about 30 seconds away from being back in the good graces and she pulls a crazy stunt…walks off stage unwilling to continue with the fact apologies. JUST KIDDING!! Kaya runs back on stage and performs the way the label wants. But haunted by her sister’s ghost backstage makes Kaya question her behavior, but ultimately she says “They want a rockstar, that’s exactly what I’m going to give ‘em.”
What do girls do when they decide to live up to the rockstar stereotype — they spend money… lots and lots of money! (I’m thinking this is NOT what Kaya’s best friend/assistant was hired to do. First stop car shopping, next stop Rodeo Dr. And I’m almost positive that she should not pay $500 for an old Aerosmith t-shirt AND change in the middle of the street. Someone seriously did not teach this girl about the paparazzi.
Welcome to the world of rockstars — if the songs aren’t good enough, you get someone else to write them. The band has refused to record any songs written by anyone other then themselves. My guess - they are seconds away from losing the contract. The demands: they want a new producer and will risk their contract to get rid of him. Oh, and did I mention they were willing to lose the Dad-ager too? The solution is simple — T quits (so everyone is happy? everyone except the label.)
Vomiting in the bathroom just minutes before she needs to perform on Last Call with Carson Daly. She doesn’t want her friend judging her, but personally, I think someone forgot to tell Kaya that being a rockstar means that everyone and their mother is going to judge you.
Wow, I actually want to jump into the screen and give this girl some PR and media training!! Goodness, has she learned nothing as far as dealing with the press? They really have come a long way from playing a quinceanera, there’s still as naive though! It’s a pretty well-known fact that if you drink too much, your voice will be shot the next day. So it was definitely a good idea to go boozing the night before you perform on national television. (sarcasm)
Kaya decides to take matters into her own hands. She needs to upstage her terrible performance. Crossing Coldwater heads back to high school to perform for their high school’s senior prom. While saving her career, she also gets to experience a little bit of the prom she never had — back in the day she had missed her own prom for the quinceanera.

I think the theme song is called “52 Saturdays”. I’ve been looking for it too cuz I wanna hear the whole thing! It’s a great song and I love the show too.

I think Kaya is a great show but it really needs to be aired at an earlier time 10:30 is too late at night. the content is awesome and the story/music is unbelievable but the time is too late for those of us in school. Can MTV work on this Please I really love the show. Kaya is a great singer and I love the music

I totally agree with barbe and susan and many many more people the show needs to air earlier even if on a different day I love this show I love kaya she totally rocks. Please air the show earlier it is way too short and way too late. Please Please Please this is an great tv show thank god no more reality junk!

WHY was this show on soooo late? I love this show! Also, my local paper said it was airing earlier at NINE and Tivo said it was airing at TEN. It aired at ELEVEN. What’s up with that? PUT KAYA ON AT NINE!!!!

MY TIVO is set to tape the series of Kaya — the schedule was messed up and it taped the Hills…. I wanted KAYA… please show it MTV. I don’t understand why there was a mix-up. Fix it.

i think Kaya has been canceled cuz when u go on mtv.com and click on Kaya on the side where it says the upcoming airings it says this show is not airing in 3 day and it usually shows right after the hills but sweet sixteen is showing instead….guess there wasnt enough views

No–”Kaya” did not get cancelled (it’s suppose to be on *next* Monday). Unfortunately, this show just happens to be on the most ridiculous and asinine television network to ever come into existence. I mean, come on! How in God’s name do you expect a show to survive when you (a) don’t promote it worth crap, (b) do away with any and all re-runs, and (c) keep changing the time slot without telling anybody? Do you even realize that by not airing tonight’s episode most people think the show’s been cancelled and won’t even bother looking for it anymore?!? You want to save your network? Please quit and hire somebody else to run things! Because honestly MTV, if you’re stupid enough to let a great show like “Kaya†fall apart, then your network definitely deserves to go under.

The show hasn’t been cancelled–they changed the time slot *yet again* (does anybody else really hate that? Seriously, MTV–just pick a time and air the damn show!) Now it’s gonna’ be on on Saturday nights–better than weeknights! It’s still kinda’ late but much better cuz it’s a weekend.

In the sex tape episode… who is the “lead singer” who she slept with? I really like that song, and would like to find it to have somehow. Is there going to be a soundtrack to KAYA? That is what bites, there is no list of songs on each episode to figure any of that out… frustrating!!! If anyone knows how they can help… thank you, thank you!!
