What could be better then Mardi Gras? A Gay Mardi Gras perhaps?! Well, Sydney has one of the largest Gay Mardi Gras in the entire world and our favorite Real Worlders were all amped about attending the 2007 parade. Well, at least that's the impression we got at the beginning.
Cue the roommates expressing their religious views and having a serious issue with all things sinful. Trisha -- who we've seen drunk quite a few times and we know for a fact has had premarital sex -- expresses her issue with wanting (or not wanting) to go to an event supporting gay lifestyle. While visiting Sydney's Opera House Trisha finds a few Christian singers performing on the street. She was so moved by the performance that she was brought to tears. She says that the performers inspire a feeling inside her... "this isn't you, don't do this, why are you going out every night, why are you going to support gays."
Back at the house Trisha heads to the confessional to express that during her time in Sydney the angel on her shoulder is getting smaller and the bigger the devil is getting. In the end, Cohutta, KellyAnne and Trisha decide to go out to dinner instead of going to the parade. However, Parisa does attend despite saying that everyone in the Muslim community will most likely stone her for attending the festivities.
The parade looked like it was a FANTASTIC time. Isaac wore green short shorts, black tights, a HUGE chain around his neck, a doctors mask and roller skates. Dunbar cut his shirt up and a bunch of red lipstick kisses from Parisa. And in Halloween style the girls just dressed super slutty. Several drinks later the four are dancing in the streets with drag queens, gay men and just anyone out to have a great time!
While they were at the parade Dunbar opens up for the first time in a while. He was molested as a child by his grandfather. Shavoun loves that Dunbar doesn't hate all gay people even though he went through that awful experience when he was younger. (Roommate bonding!!! Love it!) Dunbar even starts to open up to Parisa at the end of the episode -- Wow! It seems like we've come pretty far from Dunbar being an ass to Parisa.
The most interesting point of tonight's episode is not (surprisingly) Isaac's CRAZY outfit, but actually how accepting the entire house is of different and opposing views. It's quite inspiring actually and really shows how far we've come since Punk and his awful comments towards Pedro back in San Francisco. Even though Shavoun disagrees with Trisha she is very respectful of her views and her religion. Our generation is really picking up and that's what I like to see!!!
This week on The Real World Sydney: THEY FINALLY GET A JOB!!!
