Casey is Ryan’s best friend and closest confidante. He’s the easygoing member of the group. With summer finishing, Casey and I talked about experiencing his parent’s divorce with Ryan, going to college, and what it’s like sign his first autograph.

Remote Control: How did you find out about the show?
Casey: Gretchen and Ryan were aware of it for a couple of years. As the show got closer to filming the pilot, they approached all the friends – Me, Taylor, and Tony - and said, “Do you want to be on the show? You can be main characters and we’re going to start filming in a couple of months.” They just dropped it on us one day and we were pumped!

RC: Were you nervous?
Casey: No, I wasn’t nervous about what I was going to say, but everyone worries about whether or not the show is going to be a hit. And once they made that pilot it just boosted my confidence even more because I thought it was amazing.

RC: Were you worried about you personal life – like your parent’s divorce – being on camera?
Casey: No I wasn’t too worried about that. I knew it was a reality show so I was prepared, but also I know they’re never going to make me talk about something that I don’t want to talk about.

RC: What was it like going through divorce at the same time as Ryan?
Casey: It’s just really cool that neither one of us is alone when we’re going through this. We have each other to fall back on, and we can always turn to each other for advice. It’s just crazy that we’re going through the same family problems. Everything can be related to, and that just helps a lot.

RC: Has college started yet?
Casey: No, I’m going to start taking college later so I can have a little longer summer. Right now I really want to major in business – marketing or management. It was my choice to stay local. I got really good grades, I applied to a lot of different schools, and I got into all of them, but I just thought staying for year would be fun and I am going to transfer to a bigger university.

RC: How has everyone reacted to the pilot?
Casey: So far everyone is really happy with it. Our friends around here just want to watch it because it’s us, and we’re getting messages on the internet from everywhere, and everyone seems to like the show. It’s really cool.

RC: Have you been recognized on the street yet?
Casey: So far just one time. I was going to pick up some food at Wahoo’s and someone came up and had me sign their tee shirt. It was funny.

RC: I’m from the east coast, and I had never heard of Wahoo’s until I watched the pilot!
Casey: It’s a little surf-type food shop and has mostly Mexican food. It’s really cool. It’s quick, cheap, and easy.

RC: So is that where all you’re classmates hang out?
Casey: That’s where we go [laughs].

RC: What are you interested in besides skating?
Casey: To be honest, Ryan is the one who got me into skating. Before him I was all about surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding…just those types of board sports.

RC: What kind of music do you listen to?
Casey: I listen to all types of music…except for country and techno!

RC: How long have you been dating Taylor?
Casey: We’re on a year and three months.

RC: What are the best qualities about her that have made the relationship last?
Casey: She’s got a great personality and she’s really fun to hang out with. It’s really cool that she’s comfortable with all the guys. She loves hanging out with all of us in the group. She is one of the guys!
