As we approach the season finale of “Making The Band 4,” I can’t help but look forward to the marathon of episodes if for no other reason than to see the show’s former choreographer and judge Laurie Ann Gibson.
You’ll recall Laurie Ann had a boom boom kack fight with Diddy, that abruptly led to her dismissal half way through the season…
Apparently me and my cohorts weren’t the only one’s missing Laurie Ann and her antics to whip the group into little dance machines. Just recently a video from the choreographer appeared online not only thanking the fans for all the emails and support but also pleading her case against the “creative editing” of the show as she states in this clip.
“And if you weren’t aware of it… it definitely was creative editing. I am not a diva,” says Laurie Ann in the video. “By no means would I act out. It was edited… creative editing.”
Since leaving MTB4 Laurie Ann has been shopping a reality show centered around her efforts to record a CD of her own.
We speculate that the networks are interested. She ends the video with a bit of hope.
“See you in two seconds, ’cause the gotcha gotcha is, I’m only beginning.”

I MEAN I LOVE LG TO DEATH.I MEAN SHE IS A WONDERFUL LADY & A WONDERFUL CHOREOGRAPHER.I HATE WHAT HAPPENED,BUT I MEAN THATS APART OF LIFE.I HATE THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENED ON TELEVISION BUT WE ALL HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT WE ARE ALL HUMAN.I MEAN THAT’S NOT GOING TO STOP HER FROM EXCELLING IN LIFE.I MEAN SHE STILL IS BOOM KACKIN’ DARLINGS!!!!
August 28th, 2007 at 1:14 am
I feel that P Diddy did the right thing by getting rid of her. She was disrespectful and needs to have her own “Band” to create!
August 28th, 2007 at 3:10 am
Laurie Ann was the victim of disrespect, herself.
If you paid attention, all through the show, even before the fateful incident happened, Diddy was always dissing her.
He would tell her to shutup, all of the time, and he never treated any of his boys, like that.
In the end, all Diddy wanted to do was front up on her, and have his power displayed, for it’s ultimate affect on his show.
Diddy is the one who seems to forget where he came from, now that he has gained a little power over individuals, and also does not remain loyal to his own people.
He obviously doesn’t know how to treat a lady, let alone a beautiful black female member of his own supposed race, that was attempting to do the job, right, and get by, just like the rest of us do.
Unfortunately, priority outside obligations got in Laurie Ann’s way, as they normally do for other people/professionals, in this life, as well.
She was the one that deserved more respect than she got, working for Diddy, all that she had previously contributed to his show’s success.
I hope that she is smart enough to never go back to work for his sorry, overblown, condescending ass, again.
It is very unfortunate that is always the bad spirited people, that gain ultimate power, over others, like Diddy.
August 28th, 2007 at 3:50 am
I’m glad LA is gone she was disrespectful to Diddy, her boss!! She was loud and and ghetto. Diddy gave her a task to do and she decided to do what she wanted to do and in my opinion she’s the reason Julius was injured,if she do get her own show I will NOT watch, who wants to hear her with all “boom Kat” crap…..she got the GOTCHA GOTCHA….
HOLLA—
August 28th, 2007 at 8:13 am
THANKS GOD HER LOUD ANNOYING AZZ GOT FIRED. i hated watching her. its diddy’s show not LA’s .. she works for himm. diddy has the power to do whatever the hell he wants. besides i like the guy choreographer better.
& if sshe gets a show not many will watch. so drop that idea
August 28th, 2007 at 8:26 am
even thoughh diddy was being rude she was acting out. shes EXTREMELY loudd!!! butt diddyy needs to get over the fact that he’s the boss. he has the power but he needa chillaxx cuzz he comee off like he on somethin. as for LA it was her time to go.
August 28th, 2007 at 9:52 am
laurie ann was wack, she was loud & obnoxious, I was thinkin she needed to go, even before she was kicked off, if she had her own show it would be a terrible flop, nobody wants to see anything she has to say, she wasn’t a star on making the band, and I don’t see her being a star in her own show either, I seriously doubt she will be getting that show, she need to just do her dance steps & keep it moving
August 28th, 2007 at 10:14 am
She was way too negative. She did nothing to encourage those young men. I think the guy who walked out during her so called session should be given some type of reparaations. Under other circumstances he may have still been in the running.
August 28th, 2007 at 10:20 am
I used to love her until this season. She was terrible to those guys. She talked trash to them the entire time. With the Danity Kane process, she was tough when she had to be, but tender when it was helpful to the girls. I wonder if someone planted some mess in her head that she alone made the show hot, because that’s how she was acting. Diddy wasn’t dissin her all season, he was being the boss and running his ship. Yes, Boo-Boo, it is HIS ship. He’s the captain, and she was a deckhand. Everyone who watches the MTB shows knows that Diddy does NOT show emotion during the audition process. He doesn’t show favoritism. He doesn’t say “YEAH” when his favorite nails a song or a routine, and he doesn’t want any of the other judges to do so either. LAG kept doing it over and over again. We knew Julius and Dan were favorites of hers because she let us (and them) know it vocally and verbally. I think she’s not only responsible for Julius’ injury, i think she’s responsible for Dan’s departure as well. Diddy got rid of Dan right after LA acted the fool, and i believe she was rooting verbally (AGAIN) for him at that time.
I too believe she cut down the guy’s practice time over that weekend because she double-booked jobs and didn’t really have the time she needed to dedicate herself to one project or the other. That’s not cute. On top of everything, she straight-up LIED about it..talking about “this was the test”. Diddy did NOT tell her to “test” anyone. He told her to rehearse them over the weekend. Period. She pushed and rushed those guys trying to make up for lost time at their expense. She did those guys a disservice, she did us a disservice, and she did MTB a disservice. Frankly, i won’t miss her boom-kackin’ azz one bit, and i certainly won’t be watching her show.
August 28th, 2007 at 10:22 am
She HAD to GO!
August 28th, 2007 at 11:19 am
The way I see it is… Respect begets respect. Puffy can talk a good game about knowing how to repect people he works with but he lost that case a long time ago. He NEVER spoke to Laurie Ann like she was a lady! (Could that be why he and Kim are not together anymore? Not knowing how to treat the women in your life? Well that is another subject) Was she outspoken? YES! Was she a hard hitter? YES! Was she “a force to be reckoned with”? YES! BUT she was doing her job! And Puffy knows it! So go head Laurie Ann and blow up on your own. You don’t need, out to get his, egotistical, love only me, Puffy!
August 28th, 2007 at 11:39 am
Well, I think that she brought it on herself. Did you hear her tell that man tht if he “edited her out of the show”, that “there will be no show”! SAY WHAT!!!!! Come on, how many people stopped watching after she left? Or like the rest of us did you not only continue to watch, but you screamed out loud when your favorite made the band, big up to Big Mike. And how about your boy Donnie getting a solo deal with Bad boy, and finally haven’t you been singing that ballad over and over ever since you heard it; wasn’t that beautiful! I can’t wait to cop that……so I ask you Laurie Ann WHO!!!
August 28th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Laurie Ann was wrong for trying to make the guys learn a dance combination in so many hours before a cut, when it should have been done in a matter of days. She only flipped out becuase she knew she was in the wrong. But on another note, sounded a little personal think this goes deeper than the show.
August 28th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
In response to those saying Lorie Ann was wrong which she was for not doing what was asked of her but the situation could have been handled differently if Diddy approached her in a different way. We all know its his show and he can do what ever cause he’s Diddy but he is also human like the rest of us and should not talkj to people any way he wants b/c he feel he can. Hell No. If i make a mistake or didnt do my job correctly just let me know dont come at me on some “CAUSE IM CRAZY FOR REAL”. Its like what does that mean u crazy. I can be to and if u want respect u gotta give respect. Dont just get it handed to you cause u have money. At least not from and Lorie Ann as well. So u feel they are both to fault for different reasons but would have never gotten that deep if Diddy would have approached her in a different manner.
August 28th, 2007 at 12:27 pm
lAURIE Ann i love her will u marry me lol but serious i ‘ll marry her she is so fine and for as puff he is a ~%%*$ ass punk all ya’ll stop hating on lauie she is no diva she just do what she do puff is the diva. laurie ann if u reading this holla at ya’ll boy sporty7thward@yahoo.com
August 28th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
i think that they shouldn’t had let laurie ann go first of all dancers have to learn in less time than that and i belive it was test which all of them failed.
August 28th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
i really hate all the bad comments they have been saying about laurie ann she was one of the one’s who went around the staes looking for talent also she is a great dancer i wish her the best
August 28th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
LAG is so negative, rude, and thinks she can talk to anyone how she wants too. On top of all that, she was a suck- up to Diddy.
she’s just loud and her voice is annoying and raspy.
it’s not fair that she was trying to get those men to do the dance in a FEW hours!!! that’s crazy and diddy knew that too.
i never liked her personally.
but diddy shouldn’t have put her on the spot like that during the auditions.
but her ass needed to boom kack kack go!!
August 28th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
I do think that she was out of line for not doing what Diddy told her to do in the first place. And because of her trying to over work the guys, Julius went to the hospital. So Diddy was right to get into her *#~%. But I am also proud of her for standing up for herself and showing that she wasn’t goingto kiss Diddy’s butt like everyone else. And now she is going to have her own show.
August 28th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
I don’t blame her for lashing out on Diddy. Those boys needed to know what hard work is all about even under pressure. If that was me I would have done the same thing. I wouldn’t take crap off of anyone, famous or not.
August 28th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
Oh Hell No… all these people taking sides and saying Laurie Ann This and Diddy That. Both Parties Recieved Fame and Recognition, Diddy got his ratings and she got the Fame Lets just cool down because its over and we all watched it and Loved It!
August 28th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
I have always been a fan of making the band……..I personally feel that LAG got excatly what she deserved. Diddy is the boss…. She took it upon herself to do what she wanted to do. Everyone is not as talented as she is and it may take them longer to learn a routine. I was pissed with her anyway for calling Johnathan a Monkey that was way out of context something should had been done about that.
August 28th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Making a CD. Now that is hard to imagine with, especially, with the hoarse like voice that she has. Lauri Ann should have been dismissed because she was starting to act as though she had the money to make a band with. I thought that she was totally different with the guys than she was with the girls. She was getting on my nerves from the beginning of the season so I can only imagine what it was like to be working with her on a daily basis. I can recall her telling Diddy that he couldn’t edit her out because he wouldn’t have a show if he did and what happened. The show went on as though she was never involved. Let’s just see how her show does. Wonder what the title will be? Maybe something like “Making the CD” I will most definitely be on the look out for this but I won’t hold my breath.
August 28th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
FIRST OF ALL EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ WHAT TIFFANY WROTE. LAURIE ANN DID NOT KNOW SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE BEFORE THAT DAY TO DO THE CHOREOGRAPHY. SHE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE PRODUCERS WERE SUPPOSED TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO CHOREOGRAPH IF SHE WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY DIDN’T. LAURIE ANN WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO PUFFY AND HE WOULD NOT LET HER TALK AND WAS BEING ALL BIG AND BAD AND IGNORANT (FOR TV!!!) AND WHO IS GOING TO SIT THERE AND LET PUFFY OR ANYBODY TALK TO THEM LIKE THAT. I’M SURE SHE HAS OTHER CLIENTS AND I’M GLAD SHE DIDN’T SIT THERE KISSING HIS BUTT LIKE MIKE BIV AND SLAM AND THE REST OF THEM! I MEAN IF PUFFY AND LAURIE ANN WERE SUPPOSED TO BE “BROTHER AND SISTER” LIKE MIKE BIV SAID HE SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PUT HER OUT THERE LIKE THAT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WAS THE PRODUCERS FAULT AND A LACK OF COMMUNICATION! THIS WHOLE THING WAS ONLY FOR TV PURPOSES!!!!!!!!!!! AND I ALSO AGREE WITH NY4Lyf.
August 28th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Creative editing or NOT, Diddy is the boss, and she shouldn’t have disrespected the boss. Bottom line is, it is Diddy’s show. I don’t think Diddy would have dismissed her if she would have cooled off and didn’t disrespect him. It’s a matter of image at this point. JUST APOLOGIZE GIRL! The fans obviously love ya, and Diddy said he;s just looking for an apology.
August 28th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
Regarding the LAG and Diddy situation. I really did like her from last years show with the girls but this year SHE LOST HER #$%^ MIND!!! 1st: WHY, did she show up with a leotard, fishnets, and character shoes on to show those brothers TECHNIQUE! YEAH RIGHT TECHNIQUE!!! WHY was that not done for the girls??? 2nd: NO SHOW WITHOUT HER?? I was NOT watching it to see or hear her say BOOM KAT, BOOM BOOM KAT! IT WAS NOT ABOUT HER!!!! 3rd: She knew she was wrong for not working those guys over a 2-3day period and Julius was hurt and eventually sent home as a result of her acting like she was Diddy. Lastly, all I can say is I was EXTREMLY DISAPPOINTED in those moments that she acted less then ladylike thru this years show. I mean YES some of the brothers were fine: WILLIE! However that was no reason to behave so unprofessionally.
August 28th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
First of all I respect Laurie Ann, She took one day of practice with all the groups including the girls. If you were really a fan you would know that.Who cares if she showed up in fishnets and a leotard.Diddy has an attitude problem and he even said so,but I think he could have handled it a little better.Congratulations to all the winners I was rooting and voting for you all and I hope you all go far.
August 28th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
First of all, Laurie Ann was only tryin to make the boys better. She showed no intention of hurting anyone or taking control of anything. Sometimes performers have to learn dances not only in one day, but while they’re on a tour bus. Trust me, I kno. And i believe her cuz creative editing really switches things up and she wuz one of the main reasons i watched.
August 28th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
I find it interesting that every time someone “looks bad” on a reality TV show they blame it on “creative editing.” As an editor (not for this show) if we do not have the material we can not edit it - meaning if they did not act this way already there would be nothing to edit that made them “look bad.” People need to look in the mirror! These shows are there to entertain you so of course they are going to edit the way they did, wouldn’t u? A note for the future: If you are going to be on a reality television show be mindful of the way you act. There will always be someone there to try and make you look like the best - or the worst person in the world. What kind of material would u supply?
August 28th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
I definitely agree! She caused Julius to get hurt which eventually crushed his spirits and his voice. She was too extra…..
tbj
August 28th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
To be honest I was excited when she was kicked off the show. Those boys were under alot of pressure as it was and for Ms. Boom Kat, Boom boom kat to not follow Diddy’s instruction was just her getting beside herself. For those boys to learn a dance step within a day or a few hours was a little much and we all know that, in all fairness.
She simply just should of knew her role. When she made a comment and I quote “There won’t be a show without me” I thought OOOHHHH!
SHE NEEDED TOO GO!
August 28th, 2007 at 9:16 pm
I thought that LAG had no right to go off on diddy.
She asked her to have the boys have a week to practice and she says she was giving them a test.
THIS IS DIDDY’S SHOW..
im sorry LAG.. but diddy had a point.
but you shouldnt have gone off like that.
-Miles.
August 28th, 2007 at 11:35 pm
I agree she behaved unproffesionally and she really went wrong talking back trying to argue with Diddy bad idea but i wish her the best of luck (even though it is her fault Julius went home)
August 29th, 2007 at 12:05 am
She bit the hand that fed her………….and you are never supposed to bite the hand that feeds you. Diddy is powerful…..and very important in the entertainment business. She was disrespectful to him, so know no one is going to hire her. In this past season she has lost her mind with the way she was dressing, screaming, and taking away some of the time Diddy gave them to learn the dance. She let her position get to her head, when she didn’t even hold that much power. I don’t feel bad for her. I hope she saved some of that money that Bad Boy has left her with because……her rudeness towards her boss was shown on MTV…..so unless she plans on working at Wal-Mart…….she is out of a job.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:38 am
Diddy didn’t have to disrespect Laurie Ann like that on live tv who the #### is Diddy he cant rap, he is fake……That was just wrong….Laurie Ann keep your head up sista and stay strong….
August 29th, 2007 at 1:11 am
well i dont feel like she lost it…for real the only reason i watched the show is to see her…i love her moves and her spunk….but i will say the things that she said was kinda out of the way diddy is a cocky man and one thing you dont want to do is to step on his toes or stand in his way…making them wait that long to perform to me…. was good…a great way to see how fast they can catch on…to make it in music, you have to learn fast…stay on top of your game…and it makes the show great to watch…i guess being on tv can really change a person and even though i love her moves…every one should know there places….
August 29th, 2007 at 1:19 am
I didn’t like her routines. They were a little corny. She had the nerve to call Diddy’s show corny….LoL! She was trying to act all hard around all of those guys. She knows that she was feening for them. LoL. They guys did not need her. She didn’t need to be so wild.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:35 am
Goodness! Look at what everybody is writing. Hmmm, Laurie Ann and P Diddy. I think Laurie Ann is okay. Ya’ll talking about the gotcha gotcha and the editing. Still…Puff said ‘no interjections.’ Okay, yeah, she felt stupid or maybe embarrassed when he said NO INTERJECTIONS so she continued to INTERJECT (bad Laurie!!!). That is why she is not there. She couldn’t keep her mouth closed. P Diddy probably would never have picked non-singing Julius if it weren’t for her. She WAS showing favoritism. Although I feel this way I still sort of like Laurie Ann. I might give her first show a peek to see what it’s like. If it’s good, I’ll watch the rest of her shows. If it’s not I won’t. I just want to know why she think she’s all that…you know…why she think she is Queen Goddess, or whatever she sees herself to be. Either she’s BAD (as in good) or not.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:03 am
I feel the same way that roni feels. I don’t think that she should have acted like that. She did not have to have on a leotard and fish nets to show men how to dance. She just wanted them to she her. Don’t nobody want her! She try to act like she was Diddy and got booted off, that’s what she get. She knew those men were not going to learn and routine in one day/a couple of hours, she crazy.
August 29th, 2007 at 4:17 am
i really liked watching u on mtb….i really hope u and diddy can ”bury the hatchet” so that you will be on future mtb’s…or have a show of ur own.either way , i’m a fan …
August 29th, 2007 at 8:00 am
In regards to Laurie Ann, I too agreed with Puffy that he could not dismiss the guys based on her not doing what he employed her to do, teach them to dance. I have watched her over the years and she is very good as a fellow dancer you cannot take that from her. However Puffy although had the right to be upset and he had the right to advise her that he was the boss and she was wrong he had no right to curse at her and tell her he was phsycho!! I mean come on what person would not feel like they had to defend themselves and that was not the first episode that showed him going off on her, when she was excited one of the guys sang well and showed it he was upset telling her to not show her emotions like that and that time she walked off and he asked her back!! So I say they both handled it poorly and I pray they are able to put this behind them.
August 29th, 2007 at 9:33 am
That’s a bunch of BS. Maybe, that’s a big maybe, she is correct about the, “creative editing.†I feel that she should have done what Diddy told her to do. Instead she did what she wanted to do, and only practiced for one day. If she wants things done her way, then she needs to get her own show and run things there. Bottom line is, she should have done what Diddy told her, and none of this mess would have ever happened.
August 29th, 2007 at 11:01 am
I agree with the previous blogger, Laurie Ann was out of control. She played herself when she tried to get the fella’s attention with the Debbie Allen out fit on, WACK. Her attitude sucked and I’m glad Puffy got her straight. She is extremely unprofessional.
August 29th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
first of all, laurie ann needs to learn to be more professional cuz it was not necessary for her to wear that leotard with the fishnet stockings. What does that have to do with “technique”. And she knew she was bein a diva cuz if it was really the producers fault then she would’ve came out and said. Her excuse what that it was a test. Therefore, she need to learn how to keep ideas to herself if she’s not running the show. Maybe next time she won’t get fired.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Creative editing or not…she didn’t do what Diddy told her to do. He didn’t say 1 day. He was right. He couldn’t decide based on 1 day of rehearsal. Had he not found that out, someone may have been sent home because she didn’t do what he asked. He didn’t have to talk to her that way, I will say. However, regardless of how arrogant Diddy is (because he’s definitely that), he’s still the boss.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
To chyna: I’ve never been on a reality show but I do know creative editing exists. For example, I could quote a movie and say “the b***h is crazy” and to start drama you could take that one sentence and then zoom in on another person making it look like I was saying it about the person and not quoting a movie. Therefore starting drama. Also I’m sure Diddy said a lot more than we saw on t.v. Since it’s his show and he’s the producer he’s definitely not going to make himself look bad. I think they both have huge egos and the person who actually runs the show won the battle. Diddy. It’s as simple as that. As for the way LA was dressed. A lot of people dress like that for dance classes. A lot!! The guys had it easy when it came to the dancing. Did you see how the girls were worked to death when it came to the dance routines from last season? Half of the show was focused on them dancing. This season probably less than a quarter of the show was dedicated to dance. Lastly, Julius can sing but he definitely wasn’t going to make the band. He couldn’t harmonize and he didn’t fit the look of the band.
August 29th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
I think Diddy was way out of line. He has a really big head and was on a power trip.
Sure, I don’t think that the routine could have been learned fiercely in one day, but Diddy was being a bit ignorant. Him telling Laurie Ann “no interuptions, none” was a bit much. He acts like he is God or something. He can say whatever he wants, but no one else can. He’s not her father, LOL!
I think he just doesn’t want anyone but himself in the lime-light. Laurie Ann added something to the show, and he probably couldn’t handle it.
I luv the show, but Diddy gets on my nerves with that big head of his. I don’t care who’s show it is, or how much money he has.
August 29th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
wow! i honestly think laurie ann deserved it cause she started actin like she ran s***… it wasn’t her first time gettin into it wit diddy because of wat she wanted and how she wanted it to be… this show was diddys show to make another band… it was more up to him then any of the judges… and i also didnt understand how she tha only one who had a problem wit diddy… now diddy is big headed but i give it up to him for letting her go.. hopefully the new choreographer jimaca is better..
this is gonna be a great group!!!
