Cory and I first met in 3rd grade and have been best friends ever since. I used to stay at his house for up to a week without ever going home to see my own family. There isn’t much, if anything, that has ever happened to either one of us without the other one knowing about it. But one thing that did kind of slip right past me was Cory and Jewel getting to know each other so well. It happened so quickly, I tried to warn Cory to back off and slow down a little bit. But they ended up getting married, which isn’t bad overall. I don’t necessarily agree with it but if Cory is happy then I have no choice but to support him.
At first I really didn’t like the way Jewel treated Cory, and I still don’t totally like it, as you all can see how rude and demanding she can be. It’s obvious that Cory will eventually get tired of it; most would. But to defend Jewel, she really does a lot for Cory. It really is a give and take relationship (Cory giving a little more than Jewel). Personally, I do not think that Cory will be able to stay with Jewel for the rest of his life if she doesn’t relax a little bit. Cory does absolutely everything for her and will eventually get tired of it. I don’t like that Cory settled down so soon — he is only 21 and has only had one girlfriend. But, in the end, I hope for the best for them because I am Cory’s best friend and now one of Jewel’s.

I just got married and I have to be honest, you have no idea what it’s like unless you’ve done it yourself. You might think she bosses him around but if they took the commitment to be married then you should only hope for the best. I know you’re concerned but at some point you just have to step aside and realize that it’s his life and your opinions won’t matter anymore. I know it sucks, but be positive about them, and give Jewel the benefit of the doubt.

This is the stupidest post and I have no idea why you decided to go public with such stupid and selfish accusations. Cory and Jewel made a committment to spend forever together in marriage and who are you to say that it might not work out? Seriously it makes you look like a terrible friend to actually say the things you felt. I hope Cory and Jewel have other friends that are supporting of the committment that they made because those are the kind of people they need in their life.

Hi there,
I completely understand your position. If I ever dated a guy that my friends didn’t like, I would consider it a huge red flag! At the very least I wouldn’t marry that person after such a short period of time and at such a young age. It is tough when your friend is dating or is married to someone you don’t like. You want to be there and support your friend, but at the same time, it isn’t very enjoyable for you to spend time hanging out with them so it’s a hard situation! I hope Cory and Jewel can grow together and that eventually everyone gets along well because forever is a long time to go not enjoying somebody’s company, that’s for sure!

I completely agree with what you said
I’m in a relationship and it is a give and take but you don’t have to be so snobby and want the world at your feet as Jewel did. But maybe that was just MTV’s cuts and it made her look like that
It is hard being a best friend and disliking someone they date and eventually marry. You only want what’s best.
Goodluck to them and hopefully it changes

After watching the show i have no idea why they got married.. Jewels really should calm herself and realize that she actually found a guy who would deal with her “high maintenance” attitude… and it does not make you a terrible friend staying what you said… a true friend is honest and will tell their friend what they see and feel… a fake friend would sit back and let a mistake happen
