Ashley and Byron: A New Member of the Family

Hi, this is Ashley! Just writing to say that we are still together and staying strong. Marriage is not easy when you get married young. But we are hanging in there. Life after marriage is good. Both sides of our family are accepting and supporting.(Well they have no choice NOW!). We are both working and going to school. No, Byron is not taking the Spanish class. But I will make sure he does SOON. Everybody looks at us different now that we are married. It is almost like we are the couple to look up to. I don’t know why.

All the fighting on the show was not called for…we were just under stress. To all the inter-racial couples: you need to stay strong and not worry about what anybody has to say. They are just hating because they don’t have it as well as you do. You have to be able to work and stay strong together because, with one person putting all the effort in the relationship, it will not work. To get any more tips, just write me and I will be more than happy to suggest something.

Peace out,
Mrs. Bourgeois!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah - We have added a new member to the family. I bet you thought I would never consider it. But Byron wanted to add another member so bad, I had to please my husband. IT’S A BOY!!!!!!!! When you look into his eyes, you can’t help but fall in love. His clothes are so tiny and adorable. I can’t believe I didn’t consider it sooner. His legs are so small and chunky. I am scared to pick him up because he looks so fragile. His hair is so healthy; soft and shiny. I am so excited to be a mother. Finally Byron got his Little Bourgeois!!!!! We named him Prince Bourgeois, and he looks just like his daddy!!! He is the best puppy in the world!!!!

Wow Ashley you had me going there! LOL Congrats on your new puppy!

I saw the show at least twice, and I can really relate to the situation that you and Byron are in. My fiancee is white, and I am african-american and panamanian. Our families have never met, and both sides are nearly dead set against us marrying so young. I’m 21 and he’s 23. His father is dead set against him marrying a black girl and hs opted to not even show up at the wedding, but his mom’s side of the family is very nice. We don’t have any racial tension with my family.
I really give you two kudos for staying so strong and dealing with that AND everything else. My fiancee and I are getting married August 11, 2007 and thanks to you and Byron we know that we aren’t the only interracial couple trying to take on issues like this!

Also, where did you get your dress it was georgeous! I’m still searching for my dress. It’s hard to find a beautiful dress for plus size girls that’s not out of this world expensive!

Are you on myspace i’d love to chat sometime!

Congratulations to both of you! My husband and I are old timers. We were married at 20 & 21 years old. EVERYONE said we were too young. We’ll celebrate 18 years this October and we’ve always been really happy. We did wait ten years to have a baby, the best thing we ever did. Keep your eyes on the long haul and leave family and troubles at your door. Do more for the other than they do for you. That’s what my dad told me and it really works. Will you post some pictures of the puppy?

  15. Tiara Says:

I am happy to see all is well with you guys. Being that you two are at the age that you are it is some very powerful stuff. I am 25 years old and I will be gatting married next June 0f 2008. It took me that long to actually find real true love and not just some come and go thing. You two are a good prime example for a lot of youg people out there. Congrats on the new addition, im happy for you. Be strong and always keep god in your hearts, and always remember that you have each other and that is all it is going to take to make it. God is on your side, always be honest with one another, and always have communication between one another. Be good and stay sweet. God Bless Your Hearts:)

  16. PATRICIA Says:

Ashley, for the record,, i want you both to know that “i am very happy for the two of you and i wish the best for you both. I trully hope the doubts you have of being accepted is just a phase. Welcome to the family
    Love, your mother-in-law

Congratulations Ashley and Bryon!! My husband and I have been together for 7 years and we just got married. Everyone thought we were to young too and we r only 22 and 24 but we loved eachother and thats all that matters. So I wish u the best of luck and God bless!

  18. Felicitas Says:

Hi, my name is Felicitas and me and my husband got married at 20 and 21 years old. We’ll be celebrating two years this July and it couldn’t be any better. We are not only a bi-racial couple, but also had to deal with a long distance relationship for about 2 years. I am from Germany and I had to go back to Germany to finish school about 4 months after we met. We constantly went back and forth as much as we could, but it was a big relief when we finally were able to live together. Our relationship was also made more difficult by the fact that my husband brought a son into the relationship (He’s 5 years old now.). It was stressful, but now we are one “happy little family” since he lives with us now. You guys keep your head up because people will always have something negative to say. What matters is really your love and what you make of it. You cannot satisfy everyone, therefore do the best to satisfy yourselves. GOOD LUCK!!! (and keep updating)

I Can Understand The Whole Inter Racial Thing Very Well. I Am Hispanic And African American, And I Mean People Can Be So Rude. They Look @ Me As Tho Im An Monster. But I Am Proud Of Who I Am, I Am Involved With A Strong African American Man, And Everyone Respects That I Am Half N Half….Its A Beautiful Thing. I Love Seeing Inter-Racial Couples….I Wish You Guys Luck In The Future…Im Sure Your Children Will Be Beautiful, But For Now That Puppy Probably Is So Cute….

  21. misstaylorbrooke Says:

To all the inter-racial couples: you need to stay strong and not worry about what anybody has to say.

i cant tell you how happy i am to hear you say that. im in an interracial couple. my white and he is black. and old people and adults look at us in disgust. not all of them but alot do. and i want people to know that it isnt a big deal. it might have been before but the world has changed. more power to you and byron for doing what you wanted and not listening to what others had to say. i do it all the time.

  22. Anonymous Says:

My husband and I are also interracial. He’s asian and I am hispanic. We had a little girl all most a year ago. People can be stupid and it can hurt that people can be so stupid. My little girl is so beautiful and some people can’t get past the fact that she’s mixed. you have to be strong for eachother when you do have a child because it can be a stress to deal with stupid people
